Microsoft is now, perhaps also in the future, the most powerful and influential company in IT (information technology). It has a monopoly operating system all over the world. Besides operating system, it also succeeds in areas like gaming such as X box, software such as IE which is the most widely used browser in the world, Microsoft Office which is also very popular and MSN or Hotmail.

In 1975, Bill Gates, who was 19 at the time, left Havard University with his high school body Paul Ellen. They created Microsoft in 1977 in Seattle. To a large degree, their cooperation with IBM contributed to its rapid development. However, their first operating system – Microsoft DOS became the most popular operating system in the world.

Then, in 1998, they made one of the most successful operating system – Windows 98. It rapidly occupied most computers in the world, and made Bill Gates the richest guy in the world. Afterwards, it made other famous systems such as XP, Vista, Win 7.

Microsoft’s influence has permeated in to every aspect of software, which includes operating system ( of course), e-mail, instant massaging, gaming, editing software, cell phone, search engine, etc.

• Microsoft doesn’t always run smooth. Being the head of its industry means having countless troubles. Sometimes, it would make itself defendant of violating the law of antimonopoly.

• Also, it has many failed product. For example, Zune, and MS surface.

• Furthermore, along with the developments of technology, more and more new companies mushroom like mushroom after rain and Microsoft is facing huge pressure.

However, even it is exceeded by other companies, it would still be a topic of tales of marvels.
