A Note from Kathy Gosh …
Following in Meg’s footsteps from last week, I
would like to share what my role as Director of Faith
Formation here at All Saints involves.
We all know the saying “It takes a village to raise a
child.” This is most certainly true when it comes to
sharing and passing on our faith and beliefs. Parents
are indeed the first and most important educators of
their children. I asked our Confirmation students who,
in their experience, had a faith that was center in their
lives. Almost unanimously they identified a parent or
grandparent. My role as Faith Formation Director is to
support parents and our community–to help them renew
their own faith and to direct their energy in sharing faith
with our children. Primary in this role is creating an
environment where children (and their parents) can find
God in their daily lives. This is done through
developing and implementing programs for children
and youth which consist of classes to teach the content
of our faith (Sunday Faith Formation Classes,
sacramental classes); service and community
experiences which demonstrate the living of our faith
(service projects, Community Gatherings); and
celebrations of our faith (Children’s liturgies,
sacramental programs, Children’s Liturgy of the Word.)
I’m the person who obtains the resources, sets the
schedules, sends out communications – oh, and
“recruits” volunteers (so please don’t run when you see
me coming!) I am so grateful to all in the “village” of
All Saints who so willingly step forth to share their
faith with our children and youth.
Tax Statements will be mailed
upon request. Please call 315-472-9934.
A MOST SINCERE THANK YOU to all who
participated in our festive Mardi Gras Pasta
Dinner last Tuesday evening! Very Special thanks
to Dave DeSalvia & his crew, including – the
currently undefeated! – SU Club Rugby Team;
along with our LGBTQ+ Taskforce & all our
parishioner volunteers for making this event a
success. Free Will donations along with jewelry
sales raised a bit over $1500 to support our
Break Margins Africa Ministry in Nairobi, Kenya!
As always your generosity is awesome and most
deeply appreciated.
White Ribbon Campaign The 26
th Annual Vera House White Ribbon
Campaign will be held in our Parish this weekend on
2/29 & 3/1.
Wristbands for All Saints will be offered for
$1 each or whatever you would like to contribute.
The primary goal of the Campaign is to raise
awareness about domestic and sexual violence and
the ways Vera House is working to end violence.
Vera House is named after Sister Mary Vera, a Sister
of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
LENT-PENTECOST – Parish-wide Book
Study and faith-sharing:
Let us reclaim Jesus!
We begin our group sharing this weekend and
continue during the week. Please check the list in
the back of church on the left side for an updated list
of groups with times and places of the meetings.
This first week of Lent, all are encouraged to read up
through p. 21 of Jim Wallis’ Christ in Crisis. If you
don’t have time to read all of it, these pages are
especially recommended: pp. 1-3; 6-11; 15-17.
There is an online forum as an alternative to face-
to-face group meetings during the week. This will
be quite informal, and you may plug into it with
comments, questions, etc. whenever it is
convenient for you. If you wish to join, please
send an email to Casey Koons with your contact
information: [email protected]
Any other questions, call or text Mary Jureller at
315-382-8039
For the second week of Lent, beginning Sunday
March 8, we will study Ch. 2 of Wallis’ book, Christ
in Crisis, pp. 23-44. If you don’t have time to read
all of it, these pages are especially recommended:
pp. 23-25; 26-30; 34-36; 38-40.
Stewards of Justice + Peace will meet on
Monday, Mar. 9 from 6-7pm in the Staff
Room. The Meeting will end in time for the
Lenten Book Study to begin.
Faith Formation: A huge thank you to the many
who participated in our Community Gathering last
Sunday. The number of persons who came far
exceeded what we expected. We will be
restructuring future Gatherings so that there will be
more time for meeting new friends and developing
community. Faith Formation for K – Gr. 8 resumes
this Sunday and will continue each week until Easter
Sunday.
Confirmation Class: This Sunday (Mar. 1) our
Confirmation students will meet at the Cathedral
for a presentation by Andrew Lunetta, founder of
Tiny Homes for Good. This session takes place in
the Gathering Space of the Cathedral from 10:45am
– noon. Regular sessions will resume on March 8 in
the Ignatius Room of the SRC (upstairs of BHC).
Caring for Our Common Home:
As we enter this season of Lent, let
us pray for the healing of the
Earth, Our Common Home:
Gracious and merciful God, as we “fast from
carbon,” grant us the humility and the inspiration to
move through authentic mourning for the destruction
of so much of your creation. Move us to accept our
obligation to restore your creation, and to act with
love and care for all that you made sacred. Amen.
Important Note:
At the end of last week, the Parish mailed a
letter with a schedule detailing our Lent,
Holy Week & Easter Services and activities,
to every name/address currently on our
Parish mailing list. This list stands as our
official Parish membership and is the list we
utilize to connect with folks.
IF you did NOT receive a letter from the
Parish in the last week, AND would like to
be on our membership list – please fill-in
your information on the sheet in the back of
church. It’s important to us to be able to be in
contact with all in our Community. Thank
you for your help with this!
