III. General Guidelines. PAYROLL INFORMATION 1. The salary range is determined each year by the school board. 2. An employee who leaves the employment of Allen I.S.D. and returns to the same job will

lose seniority. 3. Permanent bus drivers/monitors will be paid for the actual time worked on their daily route.

Four hours guaranteed per day or actual time worked, whichever is greater.

Sub drivers/monitors will be paid 2 hours guaranteed per shift or time worked whichever is greater.

4. Employees must submit their time on a weekly basis by 6:00 PM each Friday. 5. If an employee does not clock in or out, it is their responsibility to complete a time adjustment

form for the missing punch. Adjustment forms are due the day of the missed punch. 6. If the employee does not work the full guaranteed time any additional time worked, for

example: field trips, shuttles, etc. will be added to meet the guaranteed hours. SUMMER EMPLOYMENT SUMMER SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS/MONITORS Working summer school is a privilege not a right. Because of the high volume of employees wishing to work, the following procedure will be used in the selection and rejection of summer Transportation employees: Employees that are assigned to work summer may be assigned to work other areas (City of Allen, shop, warehouse etc.). Employees assigned to summer work may be replaced after two attendance occurrences of missed work. An occurrence is any part of any shift AM or PM. Employees that have 10 or more attendance occurrences during the regular school year will be placed at the bottom of the selection list for summer work.

Summer employment selection will be based on:

• Seniority

• Probationary Status

• Accidents

• Attendance Transportation Employees are not guaranteed summer employment. The Shop Manager reserves the right to select employees working in the shop. Summer work is based on work load.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES The District has a right to expect all employees to be in regular attendance. The generous array of leave policies is designed to be of benefit to employees in order to maintain a positive and healthy work environment. It is in employees’ best interest to use personal or state days appropriately to ensure they have sufficient days available in case they experience a serious illness or injury at some point in the future. Employees are discouraged from fraudulent use and doing so will be construed as a violation of District Policy which may result in disciplinary action up to and including loss of pay, suspension, demotion or termination of employment. Transportation employees are given a generous amount of time during the summer months, holidays, spring break, etc. With that in mind, employees are discouraged from scheduling personal “vacation” leave during the scheduled 180 day school year including in-service days. Each employee is obligated to work 180 days of the school year and the expectation is that you will be available for the job you were hired to do. The Director of Transportation reserves the right to deny any request for off time to assure work load coverage. 1. An employee must report at their assigned check-in time. Promptness is crucial due to the fact that

schedules are tightly structured. 2. If an employee must be absent due to illness or family emergency, that employee must communicate

with the Operations Office at least thirty (30) minutes prior to each of their assigned check-in times. By Using the phone number, (972)727-0542

3. An employee’s absence without communication (No Call/No Show) is a serious breach of departmental policy.

4. Employees are supplied with a copy of the school year calendar and are expected to be present, as

the calendar requires. Employees should not schedule appointments during duty hours. 5. Time off Refer to District policy on leave DEC (Local) days accumulated each year (Personal

Business Days and Sick Days). It is District policy that when an employee calls in and has no available leave, that employee will be docked.

6. Late/Tardy When an employee reports to work five (5) or more minutes late they are considered as

“Late or Tardy”. That assignment may be filled and the employee may be sent home. 7. If you are not available for all of your AM, PM, or mid-day routes, you may not be eligible for any extra

duty work, including field trips or shuttles, for that day. 8. Docks When an employee has utilized all available sick and state personal leave, subsequent

absence is identified as a Dock. 9. Mid-Day runs: If an Employee is absent from an assigned Mid-Day run Four (4) times, the

employee may be removed from that run and the assignment will be issued to another employee.

4. The bus operator should obtain the other driver's name, address, telephone number, vehicle

information and insurance coverage. Obtain the insurance agent’s name and telephone number. Also obtain the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all witnesses and those injured.

5. Regardless of how minor an accident may be, a representative (whenever possible) will be

sent to the scene of the accident. If the bus in the accident is disabled, another bus will be sent from the Transportation Department to deliver uninjured students to school or to home, whichever is appropriate. Should the accident be minor, with no damage to the bus, the bus may proceed on its regular route delivering students once released by the police or dispatcher. In every case, students will have to be examined by the school nurse/ambulance attendant and released by her and/or the investigating law enforcement official. The nurse/school will send notification of the accident to parents of all students on the bus.

6. The primary responsibility of the bus operator is the student and not a damaged bus. 7. All bus operators must complete and turn in an accident/incident report within 24 hours to the

Operations Office. Bus operators will inform the Operations office/or supervisor of Transportation immediately of any bus accident/incident (with or without students). Failure to report this is cause for immediate termination.

8. Operators are required to prepare a seating chart. 9. If an accident occurs while on a field trip and/or late in the evening. Please check your

Emergency packet for Transportation Staff telephone numbers. 10. The supervisor of Transportation may elect to retrain and/or suspend a Transportation

employee whose performance may have contributed to an accident while driving a district-owned vehicle. An employee may also be assigned to another route.

11. Accident must be reported before bus is moved from the scene. The bus must not be moved or released from the scene except by the Police, Operations office or Supervisor of Transportation/designee.

The Accident Prevention Review Committee (APRC) is responsible for reviewing accident reports on all accidents. NOTICE: In accordance with the Department policy, you must notify your supervisor immediately of any traffic violation/accident (except parking). This is true no matter what type of vehicle you were driving. Failure to report this is cause for immediate termination.
