Version 5.1 Financial – Authorization Changes/User-Defined Billing Basis

Summary

Authorization Changes

With this lesson, you will be guided to how your agency can now be more proactive about obtaining and authorizations. For example: Agencies are able to allow for more than one authorization for the same service dates, insurances, and disciplines. Icons are added to Schedule, and My Day to give the user an ‘at a glance’ view of services that are authorized, not authorized or pending an authorization. In such a case, you will learn to identify how your agency can now track what services were requested versus authorized on the Authorizations Screen and mark the authorization as Pending. You will learn how the Authorizations Report has been redesigned to be more user-friendly and will report requested vs. authorized service, patient assignments, Payer contact, Authorizations Notes, and Multiple Business Unit Consolidation.

User-Defined Billing Basis

You will gain an insight about how your agency is now able to define a minimum and maximum number of units to report on a claim to meet payer contracts for ‘per visit’ reimbursed services. For example: a contract calls for reporting of a minimum of 8 units of 15 minutes and a maximum of 12 units of 15 minutes regardless of service duration, and reimburse at a flat rate.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this lesson, the attendee should be able to:

Identify the changes made to the Authorization functionality.

Identify the new indicators available in Scheduling, TimeLog, and My Day to indicate if a visit has been authorized or not.

Employ the improvements made to the Authorization report.
