Almshouse & Sandal Almshouse & Sandal SurgeriesSurgeries
An overview of the IPQ An overview of the IPQ findings 2012findings 2012
Aims of surveyAims of survey
The aim of the research was to assess patients’ attitudes towards the services currently offered by the practice
How patients thought services could be improved
An essential part of the research was to identify which aspects of the services offered needed addressing
To develop an action plan that could be implemented to resolve these
Structure of the reportStructure of the report
Section one indicates the methodology
Section two reports the findings for ‘At the practice’ (ATP1-ATP7)
Section three indicates the findings for ‘About the nurse/doctor’ (ADN1-ADN6)
Section four gives the findings for ‘About the staff’ (ATS1-ATS3)
The findings are reviewed
General findingsGeneral findings
It is It is important to remember important to remember that the following that the following tables tables are overall averages for the three main sectionsare overall averages for the three main sections
As a ‘rule of thumb’ it is statistically significant if there is a difference of two e.g. 4.1 and 2.1
However, the smaller differences do require attention

FindingsFindings
There is a good independence between the 3 question sets (ATP, ADN, ATS).
ATP and ATS questions are associated and can meaningfully be merged together indicating ‘staff’ and ‘practice’ questions form one domain of the enquiry, and ‘clinicians’ the other domain.
The following table indicates the overall satisfaction level (merging the 5 point Likert scale into three)

FindingsFindings
There is a high satisfaction about the practice (ATP1-ATP7) except where the questions relate to appointments (ATP3-ATP5).
About one third of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the appointment
process (about ten times more than express dissatisfaction with other questions).
Dissatisfaction issues around appointments also show in written responses.
FindingsFindings
ATP3 (I can get an appointment at a time to suit me)
This was the lowest ‘satisfaction’ response of the ATP questions.
The 25-59 age range indicated the ‘least satisfaction’ at 20.6%. 19.3% of females and 11.8% of males indicated this negative response.
Satisfaction levels fall the longer time has been at the practice i.e. 22% for 10+ years, 3.9% 5-10 years.
