“If you have a dream, don’t just sIt there. Gather courage to believe that you can succeed and leave no stone unturned to make It a realIty.” ― Roopleen

Dear AIESEC in Manipal University, I would first, like to thank you for taking out time to read my manifesto for the post of Local Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University for the year 2016-2017. My theme is based on the motivational quote of “Never Back Down”. I want to keep this summary as short as possible. I want each one of you to go back and relate how this theme aligns to the reality of AIESEC in Manipal University. No one is destined to be great. No one! It’s only with a lot of hardwork, sweat, patience, dedication and clear cut focus that a person achieves greatness within. AIESEC in Manipal University is one LC which has the best kind of people. It has the best kind of resources. Yet, we are never able to show our true potential. This is all because we give up too damn fast. None of the legends like, Michael Schumacher, Martin Luther King, Walt Disney, Rahul Dravid, Marshal Mathers, Nikola Tesla, Oprah Winfrey were destined to be great. They all went through a lot of struggle a lot of downs yet, there was something that set them apart. The will to succeed,no matter what! This is what I would like to drive down as Local Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University. Because there is no greatness in settling for something mediocre. AIESECly Yours Aman Bharadwaj

3. Executive Body 2015-16 3.1. Describe the experience of being a part of the Executive Body of AIESEC in Manipal University. How do you think other members on the team would evaluate your contribution to the team & LC’s organisational direction? It is no secret that I joined the Executive Body later than all the other members. Hence it took me sometime to settle with the people and how things work at an EB level. Nevertheless as mentioned earlier been quite an intense journey since the day I joined the team. Leading a portfolio of 23 people strong and targeting 90 realisations indeed makes it challenging and stressful. Yet, this is something that AIESEC teaches us. How to face challenges and figure out solutions. Speaking of how the other members on the team would evaluate my contribution to the team and the LC, I feel the below mentioned points makes the picture clear enough.

(Answer objectively) Never Ever Give Up: The kind of person that I am today I all courtesy AIESEC in Manipal University. I have learnt that no matter how tough things, you always figure something out. Learn To Live In Diversity: AIESEC is all about diversity, and having been in this organisation for almost three years I have learnt how live in a diverse environment. Section III | Motivation 1. Why did you decide to run for LCP of AIESEC in Manipal University? What are the qualities required for this role & what makes you best suited for this role? I strongly believe that AIESEC in Manipal University requires a transformation, a transformation from being a nascent potential good local committee to being a fully equipped, recognised and respected local committee which pioneers innovation and delivers high quality experiences. In order to move towards the goal of AIESEC 2020, the transformation is very important and relevant, and can only be done by achieving what we envision and building a name for ourselves in the national and international plenary. My Never Give Up attitude and determination to strive for excellence along with the ability to adapt and understand different situations and perceptions is something that will really benefit me for this role. I trust myself to be the right person to achieve the stated and take up the responsibility of transforming AIESEC in Manipal University, and hence I decided to run for Local Committee President. 2. Describe your future short-term and long-term career and personal goals. How do you expect an LCP term to help you achieve these goals and why now? Since childhood, I have always dreamt of flying. Not just figuratively but also realistically. Yes, I want to become a pilot. I see myself as a Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) on Boeing 700 Series New Generation. I want to settle in India as a commercial pilot living a well stable life (on ground and hopefully in air). I really don’t see myself as a person going for a 9 to 5 job, sitting in a cubicle, frustrated with his life. I know it very clearly in my mind, as to what I want to do and how to go about it. Yes, I want to have my office at 40,000 feet about ground level where each and every day is a challenge with a lot of responsibility. Responsibility of 200 people sitting behind the cockpit. Hence, I want to take up the role of LCP. I would be the end responsible, it would be stressful, intense, challenging yet worth the experience. Just like flying! And, if not now, when?

3. What are your three most substantial personal accomplishments (non-AIESEC), and why do you view them as such? Provide a candid assessment of your strengths and weaknesses. Personal Achievements

Leading the sports teams and school Student Council helped me get the understanding of leadership and how to manage a team. Aforementioned recognition at summer internship 2015, gave me a lot of confidence because in life, you cannot always be leading. At times one has to work under a leader and get inspired to lead in future. It was

exactly the same concept for me during my internship. 4. Define AIESEC in Manipal University’s direction in 2016 in a single phrase or a statement. (Can be a stand or a vision or a mission statement)

Leading the Student Council of my school

Leading my college Badminton and Table Tenis Teams

Getting recognised as the highest perfoming Team Member at my internship in summer 2015

Section IV | General Questionnaire 1. Please present a SWOT analysis of AIESEC in Manipal University for the year 2015.

2. What are your (probable) Goals for 2016? Please justify the same along the lines of - a. Membership Volume & Experience b. Logistical Management c. Stakeholders Experience Delivery d. International Relations (GCs, GTs, GCo, GTo, TMP, TLP)

Page 10: Aman Bharadwaj, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

Global Citizen (o) Logistical Mgmt. - Sorted University Relations for keeping the Incoming EPs in MIT/International Hostels for 6 weeks. - Good Realtions with the partner NGOs in order to avoid last minute backing out from heir end. International Relations - Focus on IR from day 1. - Focus on just 10 to 12 countries but get the most out of those countries’ EP supply. Stakeholders Experience Delivery - As mentioned earlier, if the logistical Mgmt is in a worthy conditions the Stakeholder Experience Delivery falls into place. - Maintaining S&S tracking.

Global Talent (o) Membership Volume & Experience - Since this portfolio falls towards the corporate sector, it is important to have only those members who have a sense of understanding with regard to corporate affairs. Logistical Mgmt - Sorted University Relations Client Relations for keeping the Incoming EPs in MIT/International Hostels/compay guest houses for the required duration. Stakeholders Experience Delivery - It is very much possible to have University TNs. Hence UR needs to be onboard with the concept of incoming GIP. - The delivery shouuld be of top notch in order to raise more TNs from the University. - Introducing the concept of short term GIP the University. International Relations - Analysis on the global demand & supply and global trends. - Focus on ET (Incoming) for markets like MCES.

Global Talent (s) Membership Volume and Experience - Since it is the focus area of the year, only the most high performing members should be put in operations. International Relations - IR should start from day 1 showcasing the talent that Manipal Univeristy students have to offer the external market. - Research oriented analysis. - Business intelligence should be employed. Stakeholders Experience Delivery - Solid Customer Experience Delivery activities like keeping the EPs upto date with Global Trends with S&D.

Global Citizen (s) Membership Volume and Experience - Membership should mostly be consisting of IXPs and people who have facilitated exchange earlier. - This results in better selling of the product – Exchange. International Relations - Capitalizing on the already existing IR of 2015. - Creating introductory EP videos to showcase the communication/presentation skills that Manipal University students set. - Creating EP supply newsletters for country partners. Stakeholders Experience Delivery - Solid Customer Experience Delivery activities like keeping the EPs up to date with Global Trends with S&D. - Engaging with parents on regular basis as it becomes a major bottleneck in most of the cases. 3. Please present your Executive Body Organisation Structure. Clearly outline any task forces and sub structure and explain the ‘Why’ of your structure in 100 words.

International Relations Task Force Quality Task Force

OS Specification Two LC VPs for GC(s) I propose two LCVPs for this portfolio as it is nearly impossible for one VP to handle, MIT, SOC/DOC/MSAP, Medical, WGSHA and Mangalore markets. Hence one VP handles MIT, SOC/DOC/MSAP markets and get the best out of these markets and the other VP handles Medical, WGSHA and Mangalore markets as its aligns to the common fact that these are untapped and potentially resourceful markets. The Return of LCVP GT (o) I have always believed in the potential of incoming GIP. From 2015, we can conclude that one VP for the entire ICX is way too much load on the VP. Hence I propose a separate VP for GT(o) as there a phenomenal potential in this portfolio. Task Force Specification Finance Task Force: - Sensing of Return of Investment and hence formation of Investment plans. - Accounting and Finance Mgmt. Expansion Task Force: - Expanding operations to Mangalore in terms of GC(s) and GT(o). - L&D of members based in Mangalore. - Delivery of experiences in Mangalore. IR Task Force: - Creating sustainable IR for all exchange portfolios. - Strategizing on how to optimize IR and maximize the conversion ratio. Quality Task Force: - Apex body for Customer Experience Management. - Solves quality cases and ensures high customer satisfaction rate and NPS.

Section V | Programme/Function Questionnaire 1. Programs (Please be program specific if need be) 1.1. What will be the changes that will leverage the volume of AIESEC in Manipal University’s ELD Experiences in 2016? How are these connected with the external environment?

Program Evolution/Innovation Proposed

1.2 .How can the Customer Flow be leveraged out to deliver a strong 2016?

Attraction Phase: This is where portfolios like BD/Marketing can do a great job at creating a good image of AIESEC to Clients/students respectively. Consideration: This is the stage where Marketing can showcase the product according to the need. Basically package the product according to the need of the customer. Value Delivery: This stage is extremely crucial for operations. Customer should be managed well by the exchange portfolios by using creative CEM tools. This is quite a fragile stage since a miscommunication at this stage would result in bad branding of the product and other customers backing out. It is the leadership defining stage. Community: Once the customer has experienced it all, it’s a great deal to continue and to promote the product. All the issues shall be sorted out and grievances shall be brought to the LC’s notice in order to avoid bad branding. It is more like a make or break stage yet, also a promotion based stage. 1.3. What actions steps do you propose for a stronger quality of experiences delivered? All possible CRM/CEM tools must be utilized in order to optimise out processes. This means that a portfolio like GTs should have its skill based EP Information sorted by using all CEM tools. All the global S&D analysis should be cover for GTs before engaging with the PEPs so that when we speak about our product, we have complete analysis of it and not just the process that it involves. This step as a whole holds good Marketing and BD too. This includes the information of all the members’ experience with work as well as the culture. This can be utilised to optimise aspects like member retention. If we already have information about a member’s skill

and experiences, we can suitably allot him/her the corresponding portfolio for an OC role or a TMP/TLP role. This would be a quality control board not just along the lines of exchange but also along the lines of member experience. All quality cases shall be taken up by the LCB and it should be the final decision making body. This body would also look after Process Evolution and Process Innovation along the lines of exchange and membership experiences that we provide. 2. Business Development 2.1. Evaluate the performance of BD in the year 2015. In my opinion, BD has improved in the sense that we are now able to get inflow directly for the LC and not just events. For eg. Microsoft agreed to pay Rs 40,000 for the second half of the year. Of course we have inflow coming from various companies from Udupi and Mangalore. But these inflow are for events like Umeed and Global Village. 2.2. Propose key projects for BD in 2016. (Explain briefly)

2.3. Give your (probable) ER/BD target for the next year. Justify the same, considering the ground realities faced in the LC in 2015.

Synergise BD with GTo for Mangalore based companies.

Raising in-kind for portfolios like GCs and GCo for EP Delivery kits and merchandise.

Host a National Conference (NLS 2016) towards the end of the year.

This is a very realistic target considering that we host events like BKK/Umeed, YSF, LTN, GV, a Regional/National conference etc. The value propostion of these events is high and there are great deal of potential clients who are willing to invest in these events. But this can only happen if we align out events and conferences to the impact model. 3. Financial Management 3.1. Define a financially sustainable LC. How do you envision AIESEC in Manipal University

in 2016 with respect to being financial profitability and investment-friendly?

Manipal University, in the year 2015, made sure that all our programmes were sustainable. But

sustainability is not the only the thing we aim at achieving. Although financial sustainability is essential,

and we aim to maintain it, what we have failed to do is achieve growth by investments into functions and

programmes to drive growth.

In the coming year, money received throughout the year will be put back into the programs all year long to

drive growth. We also need to keep in mind that just making investments isn’t enough, these investments

must show returns in terms of growth across our programmes.

3.2. Define major areas of investment for the year 2016.

The various functions where we could specifically invest to drive growth are:

4. Marketing and Information Management

4.1. What emphasis does Marketing as a function hold currently for AIESEC in Manipal University? Critically analyse the same. Also evaluate its contribution to growth in all ELD programs, including

Function for Brand Enhancement

Facilitating Programs to amplfy their outreach

Medium between the stakeholders and LC

Contributing to growth in ELD Programs: GCs: Product packaging. Conceptualising small scale events to have pre raising. Timely on ground marketing strategy and implementation. Digital Promotions. Managing ORS support. GTs: Poor Brand presence Ensuring proper communication with the prospective. GCo: Showcase ICX impact to build brand and credibility Gathering client, EP and workspace referrals and use them for engaging new clients GTo: Showcase ICX impact to build brand and credibility in Manipal/Mangalore. Gathering client, EP and workspace referrals and use them for engaging new clients Global Leaders: Showcasing the Leadership aspect of the organisation Personal Impact stories 4.2.How should Marketing evolve in the LC in 2016? How do you see it contributing to ELD programs in 2016? Marketing as a function should evolve in the following manner:

Contribution to ELD programs in 2016: Purpose: Through focused engagement activities we are attract more of the right kind of customer, and drive faster conversion. Specific Objectives: - Marketing is optimized so that more of the right EPs are attracted to GIP and GCDP. - Fast and sinple conversion from Global Channels to ELD. - Strong AIESEC brand in Global and National network. - Intake of the best talent in Manipal and Mangalore.

5.2. How do you see LDM contributing to 2016 and customer experiences? Propose a model for the same.

I I believe that whoever the customer may be, leadership is something that should be delivered with each experience. Be it a partner NGO, EP, University students, Inters, NEPs, leadership should always be a bi-product of that experience. By setting high yet realistic targets and achieving them in a year, a member becomes more Self-Aware of what he/she is capable of. The member understands the strengths and weaknesses. While undergoing an exchange as an EP or daily AIESEC work as a member, he/she encounters a lot of issues with the system and figures out the flaws. Yet, it is more important to be Result Oriented and work towards a common goal. While working towards a common goal in daily life AIESEC or in exchange, the member/EP becomes more confident and becomes inspired enough to lead and Empower Others And, finally when an EP comes back to Manipal from exchange or facilitates leadership while working in AIESEC, he/she becomes a World Citizen. A person who is aware of the issues that the world is facing in today’s reality and inspired enough to take stand and work towards the common goal/solution. Section VI | Specific Questionnaire 1. How do you envision AIESEC in Manipal University at the end of your term? Please identify the most important aspects of your vision and explain what strategies of the 2016 term will lead the organisation to achieve them?

Strategies involved: - Focus on Brand Enhancement and for building a great reputation in Manipal and Mangalore via ground marketing. - Capitalise on Expansion for GCs and GTo majorly.

Page 20: Aman Bharadwaj, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

- Impact showcasing both ICX and OGX from branding - Driving down sense of ownership towards the LC and the organisation as a whole. - OGX – Marketing synergy refresh. There should be a clear picture of which portfolio has what job profile. 2. Imagine 31st December 2016 is upon us. Write a letter to your successor, describing the

year that was and providing him/her a few key insights for the term he/she is about to

begin.

Dear Mr. President 2017,

Today, I write to you in hope that you will find this letter in high spirits. After a year of working on the

same team, having disagreements, fights and seeing almost everything good and bad a team can see

together, I’m happy to end my term this gracefully and leave the legacy of this Local Committee behind in

very capable hands. I cannot say I’m satisfied since there’s always room to do more, but will always be that

year when AIESEC in Manipal University finally showed exponential growth and showed the network

what our LC is truly capable of.

Tomorrow you will start a new year with your team. A new year for you to discover yourself, a new year for you to nurture and grow your team, and most importantly a new year for you to take AIESEC in Manipal University to new and much greater heights. When I got announced as LCP, there was feeling of uncertainty. I was ready to take it, yet, was going through a lot of introspection. Having set a target of 193 exchanges and having achieved them, with the help of my team in whom I put in complete trust, gives a really warm and fuzzy feeling. The road was definitely not easy with lot of highs and lows and many were made, but we finally showed what we are made out and the fact that we don’t settle for anything that is less below our capabilities. One thing I want to tell you is that I want “us” to be remembered over the years as the ones who sent the bar and raised it ever so high. I would want our legacy to be remembered and set as the benchmark. We became full members in AIESEC India this year and broke the 130 OGX barrier and crossed over 190 exchanges this year.

With all this said, I congratulate you on taking such a bold step forward. Know always that the LC come first. Know always that AIESEC in Manipal University can grow much more. No matter what happens, NEVER BACK DOWN! Best wishes Aman Bharadwaj Local Committee President AIESEC in Manipal University AIESEC India 2016-17

3. Based on AIESEC’s Impact Model, what is AIESEC’s role in the society of Manipal University? Based on that how can AIESEC in Manipal University become more relevant in Manipal and in the national network. Manipal University as we know is one of the leading private universities in India and produces the best all round talent. However there is nothing much to do here except studies that really provides students an opportunity to grow and expand their skills. This is the stage in lie where people can experiment and learn and AIESEC exactly the same value to a 21 year old. AIESEC provides them with the occasion, makes them understand the concept of productivity and set their leadership skills for life. Manipal has produced people who are in today’s world in the top 30 influential people in corporate world like Satya Nadella, Rajeev Suri, Vikas Khanna etc. Hence it is well established that Manipal is the hub of future leaders of this country. Yet, with this dynamic world, things change too quickly. Companies are now looking to hire people who have had leadership opportunities earlier in their lives. And, this is exactly what AIESEC provides. LEADERSHIP! Through programs like GCDP, GIP, TMP, TLP, AIESEC provides the right kind of leadership which is very much needed in today’s reality. AIESEC in Manipal University can become more relevant not just in Manipal but also in the national network.

Aman Bharadwaj Born in Mumbai on 24th February 1994, he is the only son of Capt. Anupam & Seema Bharadwaj. Being a son of an Air Force pilot, Aman has stayed at places like Allahabad, Kanpur, Jorhat, Bangalore and finally Delhi. Aman has spent 16 of his 21 years in Delhi. The entire childhood, Aman was exposed to the discipline that defence officers maintain. He was always a quiet, sky and a bit of an introvert. Aman did his schooling from an Air Force school known as Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute. Right from KG till the 12th standard, Aman never changed his school. He was well settled and hence quite a name amongst the teachers. For good deeds of course Aman has always been into co-curricular activities like debating, quizzing, sports etc. In class 9th he was given the responsibility to lead the school Badminton and Table Tennis teams. He was also into cricket and ended up playing for the West Delhi Cricket Club in 2009. Indeed a proud moment for an cricket enthusiast. Aman has always idolised Rahul Dravid for the person that he is. During school days, Aman was one of the studious students and did well for himself in class 10th and 12th securing a 9.0 GCPA and an 82.6% respectively. Over the past few years Aman has taken quite a few leadership opportunities. His aim in life is to become a Pilot, just like his father. For him, nothing comes before just getting to see a glimpse of an airplane. Aman happens to be quite an interesting person. He might look a little serious from the outside but is one of the most fun people to spend time with. He has a very string mind and a lot of patience. If you ever get to see him, feel free to say hello.

Subject: Letter of Endorsement for Application of Mr. Aman Bharadwaj for the office of Local

Committee President, AIESEC in Manipal University

It gives me immense pleasure to write this letter for someone who I consider not just a co-worker and a gifted member of my team, but a beloved friend I got to know about during my stint at AIESEC.

When Aman asked me to write this letter for him, the first thing that came to my mind was his humble nature. An LCP needs to have his/her feet firmly planted in the ground while aiming for the stars, and this guy is the prime example I have come across, in the LC. Aman joined AIESEC in 2013, and has rose rapidly in the LC. He has delivered exchanges, the core product of AIESEC. His deep knowledge about AIESEC, its products was of immense value to The Enterprise (ICX Sales 2014), which ultimately culminated in the Best Exchange Department award.

He has taken up various roles over his AIESEC career: OC, NST, TMP, TLP, VP. And he has shown the willingness to learn even more by filling applications diligently. There are some people who give up. He is not one of them. Sure there were hiccups on his road to success, but he is always up for a challenge, and wants to get the job done.

Aman loves AIESEC, lives for AIESEC, demonstrates the 6 qualities that an AIESECer should have, which makes him an ideal AIESECer, and I believe that he has it in him to take this LC to greater heights. He never disappointed me, his team members or fellow team leaders, is highly approachable and he can really be an astute leader.

It takes great courage to apply to the post of LCP of a rapidly evolving Local Committee, and I wish

him all the very best for his application.

To the reader, should you have any questions regarding this Letter of Endorsement or anything related to the applicant, do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. After all, you will be voting for your next LCP, you have the right to have all the details in place before making an informed decision.

Subject: Letter of Endorsement for Aman Bharadwaj for the post of Local Committee

President of AIESEC in Manipal University 2016-17

It is my pleasure to be writing this letter to endorse the application of Aman Bharadwaj to the

Local Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University.

I’ve known Aman since day one of my AIESEC journey. He has been a constant support and

mentor through thick and thin. The first opportunity I got to work directly with him was when

he selected me as his Organizing Committee Coordinator (Mangalore) for Global Village 2014.

To lead three members and pull off an event in a city which was an hour and half far away was

not easy.

The main difference between a dictator and a leader is the quality of motivation and faith.

Aman, being the brilliant leader he is, never gave me orders or tried to impose himself on the

OC. He always believed in me and my capabilities. When everything about the event was going

wrong, this trust helped me push myself to be better and to never give up. Someone with such

distinguish qualities is apt to lead a diverse LC like ours.

With that being said, I, Alicherry Nihitha, one of the many led by this AIESECer, would like to

endorse the Local Committee President application of Aman Bharadwaj.

Yours sincerely,

Alicherry Nihitha

To whomsoever it may concern,

It is with immense pride I endorse my son, Aman Bharadwaj, as a candidate for the post of Local

Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University for the term 2016-17.

Since his childhood, Aman has repeatedly undertaken roles of leadership, be it the school student

leadership experience. Being a part of the organizing committees for various college fests has
