COMMANDER’S CORNER Fellow Legionnaires,
Happy New Year! I trust everyone had a joyous holiday
season and I am hoping that everyone has also made a
resolution to become a little more involved in the Legion!
In the last year, we had some noteworthy events: a
Valentines Day dinner, golf tournament, Memorial Day
Ceremony, Harvest Festival booth, installed new fencing,
Flag Retirement Ceremony, Warrior Breakfast, led the
Clayton Christmas Parade and our annual Ladies Night,
just to name a few. As this year is the 100th Anniversary
of the Legion, I’m hoping we can do all that again and add
something special to celebrate the centennial birthday. But
all of these things need active members to give some of
their time and talents to make them a success.
Troy Alcorn
Be an Active Member
Be an active member, the kind that would be missed;
Don’t be just contented that your name is on the list.
Do attend the meetings, and mingle with the crowd;
Don’t stay at home and complain, both long and loud.
Do take an active part to help the club alung;
Don’t leave the work for just a few, and gripe about the
clique.
There is quite a program scheduled, that means success, if
done;
And it can be accomplished, with the help of everyone.
Be an active member, and take an active part;
Think this over, member, are we right or are we wrong?
Be an active member, don’t just belong!

Help is needed - The Post is steadily renting the hall
almost every weekend and we currently have just two
people to supervise those rentals and that just isn’t
enough. This job entails calling the renter to verify when
they will need to get in, being at the Post during the rental
and making sure that the hall is cleaned up and back in
order before they leave. The rentals are typically
Saturdays, but there are some on other days. The renter
also pays a stipend for the supervisor to be there. If you
are interested or have any questions, please contact the
Commander by email, phone or in person.
Hello Legionnaires, A new year is upon us, and as humans we always ask that
new year be as good or better than the last. We as Christian
Patriots know the way to better our lives is to turn to the
Supreme Commander. Our Nation is in need of a third
"Great Awakening". The first was 1740-1742, when an
estimated 25,000 - 50,000 souls were added to the New
England Church. The second was when 15,000 - 20,000
people attended one revival in Cane Ridge Kentucky, and
10,000 people were swept into that states Churches. Rev.
Charles Finney, one of the greatest American preachers,
always demanded a verdict from his question:
"What will you do with Jesus Christ?" It is time this Nation changes its moral tone, it is indeed a time for a Great Awakening. We as Christians need to continue that what Chronicles 7:14 tells us, and also spread the Gospel. I hope to see all of you at the next meeting, till then, God bless. Wade Stanley, Chaplain, Leonard Moore Post 71
