DEFINITION OF TERMS For better understanding of the study of the following terms were conceptually and operationally defined.

FM broadcasting is a VHF broadcasting technology, pioneered by Edwin Howard Armstrong, which uses frequency modulation (FM) to provide high-fidelity sound over broadcast radio

Page 12: Amplitude Modulation

AM broadcasting is the process of radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM). AM was the first method of impressing sound on a radio signal and is still widely used today. International broadcasting is broadcasting that is deliberately aimed at a foreign, rather than a domestic, audience

Television broadcasting (telecast) an extension of radio to include video signals.

Class-A Stations. A Class A station with a minimum of 10 kilowatts transmitter power with an authorized transmitter power not exceeding 25 kilowatts and an Effective Radiated Power (ERP) not exceeding 125 kilowatts and limited an antenna height of 2000 feet above average terrain.Class-B Stations. A Class B station with a minimum of 1 kilowatt transmitter power with an authirized transmitter power not exceeding 10 kilowatts and an Effective Radiated Power (ERP) not exceeding 30 kilowatts and limited an antenna height of 500 feet above average terrain.

Class-C Stations. A Class C station with a non commercial community station having an authorized radiated power not exceeding 1000 watts (ERP) .Class-D stations. A Class D station with an authorized tramitter power not exceeding 10 wattsERP(Effective Radiated Power) is a calculated measurement that describes the peak transmitted power output of the system. It is measured in Watts, and includes peak transmitter power, transmission line losses, and peak antenna gain(as compared to a half-wave dipole).
