PERSONAL AKHLAQ
“Whoever joins himself (to another) in a good cause shall have a share of it,
and whoever joins himself (to another) in an evil cause shall have the responsibility of it, and Allah controls all things.” [4:85]
At the Workshop we expect all our students to have the best Akhlaq! Remember you are always responsible for your own Akhlaq! In accordance with the above, students are expected to display the following Akhlaq in all classes and all situations:
Always be your best and do your best
Treat all others and their property with courtesy & respect
Listen to your teacher and to your classroom colleagues when they are speaking
Follow all the instructions given by your teacher
Make sure you bring all appropriate materials to class
Be on time for all lessons and activities
The above etiquettes are aimed to establish a fair and equal classroom environment where everyone can participate without any fears.
INTRODUCTION XII

Confiscated Items can only be collected by parents/guardians from the Admin Desk.
The Workshop fully expects all its students to ensure that these rules are observed at all times and in all situations. What is the Islamic dress code for the Workshop? Girls: Loose black abaya, head scarf covering the neck part with no make up or nail varnish and minimal or discrete jewellery.
Boys: No shorts, jewellery (i.e. Earrings) or hats (aside from Muslim prayer hats) / hoods.

INTRODUCTION XV
BEFORE YOU START THE LESSON...
“He who travels in the search of knowledge, to him God shows the way of Paradise.”
Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Remember that it is every Muslim’s duty to gain knowledge and learn as much as you can! Knowledge is what we learn and then apply in our life every day. You can learn new things at home from your parents, at the Mosque, in the workshop, at school, and many other places. We will concentrate on learning in the workshop. There are some important things you must do when you are intending on learning something: 1. Say Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem before you start your lesson
بسم هللا الرحن الرحيم In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Merciful
2. Sit up straight in your chair and prepared for the lesson 3. Don’t talk while the teacher is talking 4. Listen to the teacher and your classmates carefully Always remember to start with the following Du’a:
بسم هللا الرحن الرحيم In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Merciful
رب زدن علما ورزقن فاهاO Lord, Increase my Knowledge, And Increase my
Understanding

The year 2018 continues with the 2017 initiated system in the Qur’an Department. A
good amount of time was spent in configuring a better way to move forward.
To maximise the learning, the students per class have been, to an extent, assessed
to similar abilities and will be supported by experienced teachers.
The Qur’an syllabus this year has remained the same topic wise with an addition of
further explanation where necessary and more worksheets. In the pages to follow
you’ll find the brief of the topics per class that needs to be covered in the syllabus in
addition to Qur’an recitation and the memorisation of the selected chapters from the
Holy Qur’an.
With the new system, the focus now is on reciting and memorising the chapters of
Qur’an with the rules learnt in class including proper pronunciation, makharij and
tajweed, hence the number of surahs to be memorised have been significantly
reduced to enable children to focus on these aspects as the aim is not mere fluency,
rather fluency with proper recitation, makharij and tajweed.
You can see below how the meanings change if we read one letter for another.
Also, the surahs for each class have been selected in a way to complement the
syllabus covered in class, enabling the students to apply the rules learnt in class in
the memorisation of the surahs.

Lesson plan guidance: 60 minutes lesson
10 mins – Recap of the previous lesson. Student involvement is essential.
20 mins – Main part of delivering lesson/Syllabus
15 mins – Worksheets/Activities for class and giving of homework
15 mins – Quran recitation / Memorisation
Teachers: • Will have to plan in a way that works best for their class and cover all the 3
aspects that need covering (i.e. Syllabus, Recitation and Memorisation)
• To please ensure children now recite the Qur’an and memorise their surahs in
the proper manner.
• Are encouraged to give homework, however, please DO NOT over load the
students with homework. This could be as simple as ONE sentence or a line
to re-iterate the points covered in class. At times, there could be tailored
homework to suit personal needs.
• To please remember to complete the Lesson trackers together with individual
child progress for each lesson delivered.
Parents: • In order to progress, we urge parents to please support their children at home
with their work, check the diaries for any note/homework and assist them
whenever possible, for reliance on the Workshop alone is not sufficient. We at
SHSW can only enhance our students learning.
• Please contact your child’s teacher for a follow up on the progress or for any
concerns you might have.

maximum benefit and ask as and when necessary. Also ensure all work is
done on time to allow the rest of the lessons to flow smoothly.
