Council Meeting hold by tale con^ Conference Link-up late last Novunber, 8arbara Daly, our Study Croup Co-ordinator, advises the outcome of subjects discussed, for your Information. 1. Fundina Por Study Groun Publications - Aftec much discussion relating to copyright, royalties and costs involved i n publishing and lack of sufficient f u n d s w i t h i n A.S.G.A.P., it was agreed that the A.S.C.A.P. Executive ha empouered to make loans or grants to Study Croups to assist with preparation of publications. Each particular case to be Judged on its merits. 2. Fundins for MaLntenanea of Flare ~nd Enrlan~ara~l S~ecia~ (and otkrr?r Fundtnq)- Again much discussion. Again inrufficisnt resources, but "it was felt that every Manber Society, as well as Study Groups, st~ould proparn a suhn~i~sion t o send to the Executive, to be compiled into one complote submissior~ from t t ~ e national body to be made to the Oepartmsnt of Arts, Heri tagn and Envirom~ent. , , it was stated that the Grants are primarily to assist with administration costs, -and also assist with technical assistance, legal advico and research projacls expenditure, provided that it i s foreshadowed i n the annual application or t~lrougt~ sorne advance. It would be necessary to justify tt~e application on conservation grounds and any application would need to Is tailorod to the guidelines laid down for the Grantsu. 3. Fundins OF Nsw Studr Groups - A.S.C.A.P. will now make an establishment grant of $50 t o a l l now Study Croups. 4. Ovsrseas Studv Crou~s - The legality was doubted even though comments were favourable. It has been referred to the Public Officer to be taken up with the Solicitor. 5, Indmnnity For Study Crou~ Leadors - SubJect has been taken up with the Solicitor. No reply to date. 6. Licence to Collect Plant meterial - Thi9 was Felt to be a state iasua as there i s no federal juriediction i n this field. Any Study Croup wishing to collect would need to establish liaison with the appropriate Regional Croup to get a specific licance issued For that purpose. . . . . . * SHEPFARTGN WEEK-END - NOVEMBER 2 1 s t & 22nd.
