COSTUME, LIGHTINGCostume- in this video there are not many actors involved until

the end of the video were we see the victim falling to the ground. The costume he is wearing is very casual and not very appropiate for the place he is right now making us think that he is been killed some were else.

Lighting- the video has been shot through out the day so the light is gradually changing until we arrive at the end of the scene were the victim is seen and were the light is less bright showing us the end of the day.

ACTORS AND MAKE UPActors-in the video there is only one actor which is also the

victim, therefore the fact that he has been killed is immediate and we don’t really know who’s been and why therefore we tempted to see the rest of the movie, some thing that makes a good thriller.

Make up- we don’t see any make up until the end of the video when the only actor and victim falls to the ground. Because this is a male actor we don’t need any good looking make up but the actor has blood running out of his mouth showing us that something bad has happened. (suspense+++)

PROPS AND SETProps- there is a very small number of props used in the video

even though the only one is very important to create the suspense needed. This prop is a car that is left open and the looping sound of the alarm makes it really scary and it makes it look like its been abandoned really fast as if the owner was running away from something.

Set- the sets in this video are very interesting because they change from chaos in a busy town to a very silent and scary forest were the car and the victim will then appear creating a great deal of suspence.

DISTANCE AND HEIGHTHeight - At the start of the video the camera is continuously

moving giving us the perception of chaos needed and wanted at the start of that particular video. During the video the camera changes position various times, from the town were it is slightly high , then it goes lower to give the perception of a steep hill and at the end it is at the ground level to film the character falling.

Distance- during the video the camera moves quite a lot. In fact it passes from being close to far away at the start of the scene in the town , were the car appears the camera is far away and again it goes closer at the end were it has to get the character falling on the ground

MOVEMENT AND COMPOSITIONMovement- during the video the camera does move a lot , in

the first part of the video it moves giving a sense of chaos to the audience. For the rest of the video the camera doesn’t move much and it is very static giving it a sense of static.

Composition- during the first part of the video the camera switches from some wide-shots to some medium close shots giving the sense of chaos that we’ve been talking about. The rest of the video is mostly wide shots apart from some close ups to the poppies and to the face of the main character.

PACE AND TRANSITIONSPace- the video starts really fast giving the audience a sense of

chaos by then get slower and slower. When the pace starts to get slower the images have always a bigger meaning to the video and gives us the sense of suspense needed for a thriller

Transitions- the transitions of the video are very fast in fact they are simple cuts designed and place to get the audience confused without knowing what is happening and more importantly were we are.

All of this is helpful to increase the sense of suspence.

FX AND TITLESFx-there are some very interesting and chaotic visual effects

that are used in the video, the first are at the start of the video were all of the cars are together giving us a sense of chaos, the second effect is in the forest were the camera man focuses on two different trees giving us a very interesting and good looking visual transition.

Titles-the titles of the video have a very dark background and a really thin white font giving us suspense and modernity at the same time. The titles in fact perfectly blend in with the video itself increasing suspense and making the audience more interested.

SOUND

MUSIC AMBIENCE SYNCRONOUGY D

Page 12: Analysing thriller devoid

MUSIC ,AMBIENCE , FXMusic-Ambience in the video there is no music and this can be criticised , but I

think that it is even better because now the audience concentrates even more on the actual sound of the ambience around and of the sound effects.

Fx- there are a number of sound effects in this video. The first one is right at the start of the video were the sound of the cars and of the people walking around the city is increased to create an effect of chaos and suspence to the audience. the second effect is when we see the abandoned car at the edge of the street and were the alarm is looped to create suspence .
