by discussing and suggesting in small groups
”a toolbox for a organization”
2016-06-08 KTH Royal Institute of Technology • www.kth.se 3
What is a ”tool” & ”toolbox” for an organization?
•”Tool”
- is a separate standard, initiative, directive, principle, guideline, partnership, network, etc.
•A ”toolbox” – some conclusions ……
- the set of tools within the area of sustainable development is hugh!
- we can not use them all!
- we have to prioritize and identify a set of tools, and develop some universal tools
2016-06-08 KTH Royal Institute of Technology • www.kth.se 4
What is a ”tool”?
•Organizations are supposed, most often on a volountary basis, to adopt and work according to different standards, initiatives, directives, guidelines, principles etc.
•But also, participate in conferences, actions plans, networks, partnerships etc. These are also ”tools” that are suposed to be a part of an organizations work.
•There are many ”tools”
- is it possible and effective to use them all?

6
Why do more than necessary?
Laws, regulations, permits, licenses, etc.
Management systems (ex 9001, 14001, 18001, 26000)
Impact from products (e.g. LCA)
Environmental and CR reports (GRI)
Global Compact, SDG, WBCSD, etc.
Etc.
Networks and partnerships
Can we identify the most important tools and create an
optimal toolbox? Are there some universal tools?

Outcomes of the workshop
When we close the workshop, we want you to have
…… a generic ”tool box” within the area of sustainable development, that you and your organization can use for own development and specification.

What does it mean in practice?
To your task of the workshop …
Smaller group discussions – about 5-6
persons/group to develop and discuss (30 min)
1. Where to start the work and use of initiatives and guidelines?
2. How to work and use the initiatives and guidelines?
Three groups are asked to present the outcome of their discussion and conclusion (4 min/group = 12 min)
