Short passage of the story: Andal was found by Vishnucitta as a small girl baby under a tulsi plant in the temple garden of Srivilliputhur. He gave the name Goda which means “the gift of Earth”. He brought up Goda with an surrounding of love and devotion towards the Lord. Her love and dedication towards the Lord grew so much that she had decided to marry Lord Sri Ranganatha.

Daily Vishnucitta, the father of Goda, use to make a flower garland. And Goda will wear it and sees how it looks before his father takes to the temple for Lord..... And his father doesn’t knows about this, and he’ll give that garland to the temple to the Lord. This happens daily. One day after taking the garland which was wore by Goda at first, Vishnucitta noticed a hair in it before giving it to the Lord. He was not satisfied to give that garland to the Lord.

And he was upset the whole day, thinking about the problem happened in the morning. The next day he finds that Goda is one who wears the garland at first and then gives it to the Lord. He becomes angry and throws the garland which Goda wore and makes a new one and then gives to the Lord. Then he sleeps that night, on his dream Lord Sri Ranganatha came and told him that he wants only the garland wore by Goda at first.

Only then he realizes his mistake, and then from the next day Goda wears the garland at first and then he’ll took it and gave it to the Lord. Days passed... Goda became 15 years old, and her father asked her to get marry. Goda said that she’ll marry only Lord Sri Ranganatha. Her father did not know what to do. So, they both went to Srirangam where Lord Sri Ranganatha was waiting to marry her.
