Trinity Sunday Christianity is distinctive, and this distinctiveness is because of our Triune God. We confess that the one true God, the Creator and Redeemer and Judge of all, is “Triune.” The one true God eternally exists as one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in substance and equal in power and glory. This is recognized in our Creeds, Confessions, and our conduct. This is unavoid-able and should be unashamedly and constantly declared. We do this in stark contrast to other “monotheistic” religions. God has revealed Himself in this way, and we are privileged to proclaim this rev-elation and this mystery to His own glory. This is part of what we do when we gather in worship; we are doing so today, and we are called to do so throughout our lives.

The Lord’s Supper is observed every Lord’s Day at All Saints, and we warmly invite to the Lord’s Table all who

are baptized disciples of the Lord Jesus, under the authority of Christ and His body, the Church, and this in-

cludes covenant children. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us, you are acknowledging that you

are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone

for salvation. You also acknowledge to the overseers of this congregation that you are in covenant with God,

being an active member of a congregation which belongs to the Triune God and is marked by the Word and

sacraments. If you have any questions about your participation, please speak to one of the elders before or

after the service.

OUR LORD CLEANSES US

FROM OUR SIN

A Corporate Reading of Our Lord’s Instruction

Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth in a parable; I will ut-ter dark sayings of old, which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His won-derful works that He has done.

For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He com-manded our fathers,

That they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born,

That they may arise and declare them to their children, that they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;

And may not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, generation that did not set its heart aright, and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

I believe in God the Father Almighty; maker of heaven and earth,

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into Hades.

On the third day He rose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand

of God the Father Almighty.

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,

The communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins,

The resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen.

‡ CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER We Confess Our Sins, Together & Individually

Heavenly Father, forgive us for our sinful neglect of You, and the sin of trusting in ourselves. We have sought our own ways and we have neglected Your ways. We have not sought Your wisdom, and this has resulted in strife and conflict. We have been quick to blame others for disunity, and we have been slow to pursue humility. We have rushed to anger; we have been quick to speak; we have been slow to hear. In all this we have caused discord. We have preferred ourselves over others. We have not loved others according to our calling—as those who bear Your name. According to Your love and mercy, hear our prayers and grant us pardon. We ask this because of Your great grace, not because of any merit in us. Show Yourself merciful to us as we continue in prayer, confessing these sins...

[we pause in prayer, and then conclude together...]

With Your gracious pardon, remind us that we are Your children and enliven us with the Spirit of the Son, and in the end receive us into Your glory, through Jesus Christ our only Savior. Amen

† ABSOLUTION: Our Assurance of Forgiveness is declared “In the Name of God the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit”

“Thanks be to God!”

† CONGREGATIONAL SINGING: The King of Love My Shepherd Is [Psalm 23]—35

The Congregation Stands and Speaks to the Children “Little children, for you, Jesus Christ has come, He has fought, He has suffered. For you He entered into the shadows of Gethsemane and the terror of Calvary; for you He uttered the cry, ‘It is finished.’ For you He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, and there for you He intercedes. For you, even though you do not yet know it, little children, but in this way the Word of the Gospel is made true, for this is true for all of us: ‘We love Him because He first loved us.’”
