ATHLETICS: Attention Students: Wednesday and Thursday night will be "Fill the Hill" nights for Girls and Boys Soccer. All WHS students will get in free by showing their school ID. Girls Soccer celebrates senior night on Wednesday and takes on Brownsburg with a 5:30 JV start and 7:00 varsity start. Thursday Boys Soccer takes on Columbus North with a 6:00 JV start and 7:30 varsity start. Thursday night is also powder puff night so you can go back and forth to support your classmates and the boys soccer team. GIRLS VARSITY GOLF The Westfield Lady Rocks Golf Team captured it's fifth sectional title in six years at the Ben Davis Sectional on Friday at South Grove Golf Course. The Lady Rocks shot a team score of 286 which is the second lowest sectional score to date and is four shots better than the Rocks best sectional score. Leading the team was senior Natalie Shupe with an impressive 69. Shupe finished tied with Becky Williams from University and had to have a playoff to determine the overall medalist. Shupe hit a great drive on the first playoff hole and had about 25 yards to the pin and proceeded to hole in out for eagle and earned medalist honors. Following Shupe was Sophie McGinnis with an even par round of 70 in which she had seven birdies. Jocelyn Bruch finished with 73. Brette Hanavan carded a 74 and Allie Hildebrand rounded out the scoring with a 78. The Lady Rocks will compete in the Roncalli Regional next Saturday at Smock Golf Course. GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER The Lady Rocks defeated Pike 4-0 Saturday. Goals were scored by Madison Niehaus, Allison Bullock, Ari Teles. and Amiah Sprunger. BOYS VARSITY SOCCER The Boys Varsity soccer team earned a nice win against a good Pendleton Heights (3 to 2) team despite having a difficult time getting their footing early in the match. In the first half, after going down a goal, Senior Nathan Hewitt got on the end of a corner kick from Junior Jordan Donsky to level the game at 1-1. In the second half a strong showing from the central midfield led by Senior Captains Miguel Ayala and Max Von Arx helped

establish the team as the better side to get the win. The team was able to get the win behind two goals from David Green, first on a free kick from just outside the box and second only moments later after Junior Colin Maris drove a ball up the field and Green was able to beat his defender and the goalie to it and head it into the back of the net for the game winner. The team is back on the road in conference play at Brownsburg on Tuesday night. GIRLS VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY The #21 ranked girls cross country team placed 10th in the championship division at the Riverview Health XC Invite on Saturday. The team was led by junior, Julia Clark. The team had a solid 20 second 1-5 split. BOYS VARSITY AND JUNIOR VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY The varsity boys cross country team performed well at the Riverview Health FlashRock Invitational, finishing 8th - just four points out of 7th - in the championship race in an elite field featuring eight top 25 teams, including six top 11 teams. The Shamrocks were led by the trio of Kai Connor, senior Mahamat Djour, and Tyler Smith, all of whom earned medals and finished in the top 34. Kyler Koning, Garrett Mowry, senior Clay Kipper, and Max Woehler rounded out the top 7, and all had solid races. The JV team finished 3rd in an equally elite field, led by senior Johnny McClure’s continued impressive streak of races. McClure finished 3rd overall in the field, and was close to a season best on a tough course. Also scoring for the Shamrocks were senior Bradley McManus, Aidan Wright, Evan Besinger, and Owen Flynn. Other fine races included Sam Hinds, Samuel Schmidt, senior Michael Simpson (coming off injury), Owen Krisch, and Lewis Kaufman. BOYS VARSITY FOOTBALL Last Friday, your Rocks traveled to Hamilton Southeastern to take on the Royals, falling 34-10. The loss is the first one on the season, dropping the Rocks to 4-1 (2-1 HCC). The Rocks had about as good of a start as they could hope for, scoring on the first drive, and then picking off a pass on their first defensive series. The field goal unit converted, and the Rocks had a 10-0 lead to end the first. The Rock D yielded a Royal touchdown in the second, which led to the 10-7 score at the break. In the second half, however, it was all Royals, as they scored 27 unanswered points. The Shamrock offense was simply never able to get going, and the Rock D struggled in the second half. Special mention should be given to McGwire Graybill, Ian Bruch, and Mario Chalmers. These Rocks made significant contributions in preparing the team for the Friday contest. During the week, they show us what it means to be united, providing the best possible look for their fellow teammates. Next week, your Rocks will come home to face the Bulldogs of Brownsburg. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm. Students can purchase a season pass for all home athletic events for only $50. Single game tickets are $6 each so if you plan on attending more than 8 athletic events this year, this is a great value. Stop by the Athletic Office for more yum information or to purchase one.
