Note from the Executive Director

I would like to start this letter by thanking you for your support.

Whether as a volunteer, an event participant, community partner, sponsor or donor, you have helped to make a difference in the lives of children at Turning Point.

This year has by far, been one of the toughest years in the agency’s history. I’ve mentioned on more than one occasion that I’ve been working with Turn-ing Point for 20 years and never have I seen our staff work harder for so many children in our care.

The simple truth is that more and more Colorado children need our help each year. We want to be able to help more children like Savannah who came to us 2 years behind grade level abusing both alcohol and other drugs, and Gabe who hopped from family to family, school to school, and wound up involved with gangs. We want to help more children like Michael who struggled with authority in his elementary school classroom and was unwilling tocommunicate with his parents.

These kids found themselves at Turning Point (perhaps a bit unwillingly) and with the help of our staff, developed the necessary skill sets and coping methods to turn their lives around.

This year we served 600 youth and their families, and countless more individu-als through our community programs including DUI Therapy and Education and our Drug Testing Center. More than ever since the agency was founded in 1967.

Turning Point has much more work to do with the children in our community and we gratefully extend our thanks for your support in fulfilling our vision of a community of empowered, healthy, and responsible youth.

Thank you for being an important part of the vital work we do throughout the State of Colorado.

Stephanie Brown, LCSWExecutive Director
