World Day of Prayer for Vocations Today, the Fourth Sunday of Easter or Good Shepherd Sunday is a special day for everyone in our parish. We celebrate World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We ask that we may be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit as we carry on the mission of Jesus, our Good Shepherd. Let us pray for one another that we may be strengthened in our Christian vocations as married and single people, priests, deacons, and religious. May our youth listen to God’s call and be encouraged to respond generously.

Job Posting

Thank you to all who completed our recent parish survey and/or participated in our community meetings. The findings voiced by many indicate a need for more opportunities to be involved in our parish and school. To help achieve this goal, the Steering Committee recommends that a new, part time, parish staff position of Director of Service be created.

Director of Service The purpose of this position is to welcome, invite, and encourage participation of parishioners within and/or outside of our parish and school community by identifying individuals’ talents and strengths using the Living Your Strengths process for those interested. This staff member will connect parishioners with an appropriate or best suited ministry/outreach as soon as possible. This position is part-time with flexible hours. Hours are cyclical and range from 8-16 per week. Experience with motivating volunteers and/or staff is helpful. The ability to speak Spanish is also desirable. For a complete job description, please see our parish website at www.annunlord.com or

contact the parish office.

To apply for the position, please submit a cover letter, resume, and list of three professional references (with contact information) to [email protected] or fax to (256) 353-8994.

News Notes from the C.C.W. C.C.W. will be traveling to The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville on Wednesday, May 4th. Meet at the Church at 9:45 AM. STRENGTHENING THE CHURCH AT HOME

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

During the weekend of April 23rd and 24th, the bishops are inviting Catholics across the

country to contribute to the Catholic Home Missions Appeal.

Over the years, this annual Appeal has helped to support programs in religious education,

evangelization, youth ministry, seminarian education and ministry training in mission dioceses,

including the Diocese of Birmingham. Without the Catholic Home Mission Appeal, these essential

ministries would not be possible in many dioceses of the United States. This national collection

has been a powerful and successful expression of your stewardship and generosity.

I ask you to be generous in this year's appeal to strengthen the Church at home. As we

continue to recover from the economic downturn, it is important to remember our Catholic brothers

and sisters whose dioceses need our support.

Thank you for your parish's life of stewardship and faith.

Gratefully yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert J. Baker, S.T. D.

Bishop of Birmingham in Alabama

medida que continuamos recuperándonos de esta época de recesión económica, es importante

recordar a nuestros hermanos y hermanas cuyas Diócesis Católicos necesitan nuestro apoyo.

Gracias por el servicio y la fe con la que ustedes sirven en sus parroquias.

Muy agradecido en Cristo.

Most Reverend Robert J. Baker, S.T. D.

Bishop of Birmingham in Alabama

Dear Friends,

My family and I are very grateful to you for your outpouring of support, prayers, and Masses during this time as we grieve the loss of our sister, Eileen, who went home to God a few weeks ago after a long illness. Your expressions of support through phone calls, cards, promise of prayers and Masses have meant so much to me. I would love to respond to each one of you for your kindness, but am unable to do so. Know that you are being remembered in my daily prayers. A Mass of Thanksgiving has been celebrated at The Sisters of St. Joseph Center in Latham, NY for your intentions. God’s blessing on you and yours during this Easter Season.

Gratefully,

Sister Teresa

Stewardship

“My sheep hear my voice” says Jesus in today’s Gospel. Is there a lot of noise in our lives drowning out Christ’s voice? Unless we set aside moments of quiet time to listen for the voice of God in our lives, how else are we to know how He wants us to use our gifts?

Attention Alabama Taxpayers

As you review your Alabama taxes this season, please consider planning for your 2016 Scholarships for Kids contribution to help St. Ann School. Ask your tax advisor about the possibility of lowering your state income tax payroll withholding and re-directing that amount to a savings account for a contribution to a Scholarship Granting Organization. The Alabama Accountability Act allows dollar-for-dollar state income tax credits for donations to approved SGOs (which also qualify as 501(c)3 organizations).

Please go to www.alabamakids.net to learn how to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity for Alabama taxpayers and St. Ann School.

St. Ann Catholic School is accepting applications for the 2016-17 school year. Applications may be picked up at the school, Information Desk, or downloaded at www.saintanndecatur.org. If you would like more information about the school, please call and make an appointment to visit. Mr. Weimer will be glad to discuss all options.
