Remembering

“Therefore, Lord, remembering the saving passion of your Son, his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven, and looking forward to his second coming, we offer you with thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice” (Eucharistic Prayer III).

The Church retraces the whole passage of Christ through suffering and death into the glory of the resurrection and ascension. She remembers too his promise to come again. In the mysteries of Christ she sees the unfolding of the Father’s plan, the “secret and hidden wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 2:7). Offering the sacrifice of Christ, she gives thanks.

Having “passed through the heavens” (Hebrews 4:14), the ascended Christ, presents himself to the Father in an act of everlasting remembrance and thanksgiving. As the Church remembers and gives thanks, she too, in hope, “reaches that inner sanctuary beyond the veil” (Hebrews 6:19).

Each of the Eucharistic Prayers contains this prayer of remembrance and thanksgiving. The mysteries we recall — Christ’s passion, death, resurrection, and return in glory — are not, like other events, locked in an irretrievable past or inaccessible future. In the Mass they are all present to us, and to the Father. The “here and now” of the Mass is God’s eternity.

Mass Confusion???

Monday, September 3rd

is Labor Day

There will be no Adoration Sep 3rd

/4th.

“The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’ They said to him, ‘Rabbi’ (which translated means Teacher), ‘where are you staying?’ He said to them, ‘Come, and you will see.’” (John 1:37-39)

What is that you are looking for? In our lives we are constantly searching. Jesus recognizes that we are looking for answers and invites us to follow him. You are invited to learn more about becoming Catholic.

How do I become a Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process given by the Church for the formation of adults in the faith. This is an opportunity for you to share your faith journey with others, to learn about the Catholic faith, and to experience the life of the Church community.

Entering the inquiry sessions is not a commitment to join the Roman Catholic Church, although it is the process through which persons may be initiated into the Catholic faith. Jesus gently invites each of us, saying to those who are searching, "Come, and you will see."

We want to welcome you to journey with us and encourage you to bring us your questions and hopes.

Is the RCIA for me? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for three groups of people:

those who are not baptized, those who were baptized into another Christian denomination and

who wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church, Baptized Catholics who were not instructed in the Catholic faith and

who have not completed their initiation through the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.

More questions?

Stewardship

St. James tells us to be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, suggesting works of mercy like visiting orphans and widows in their need. Today we might consider giving to the parish St. Vincent de Paul Society or even becoming one of their volunteers.

Check out the App: ConnectNow Giving Our E-giving provider is ConnectNow Giving and our

link is: http://giving.parishsoft.com/annunlord

SCRIP is a program where our school sells gift cards from many different companies. You purchase them at face value but the company gives the school a percentage back.

It is a Win-Win situation. For just a few minutes of your time after weekend Masses in the Gathering Space or during the week at the Parish Office you can purchase these gift cards and the school makes money to help with their programs. Please consider using SCRIP whenever you can.
