From the Pastor’s Desk

Jesus talks to us this weekend about the generosity of forgiveness and peace. It is

difficult sometimes to offer the “other cheek”; it is hard to set aside our judgmental

beliefs about others and look at them with the new eyes of love in Jesus

Christ. Generosity with our time, with our resources, with our love - these attitudes

bring us closer to God. The more we can set aside old feuds, the more we can look

to others as fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord - the more will we receive of

God’s bounty. The same measure we measure will be measured back to us.

There are so many of you who have come to me to express your generosity and the

love you hold for others - you are a light in a dark place to all. We all can look to

you as an example. There are some others who, continuing to feel the pain of past

hurts, continue to hold on to anger and resentment. Perhaps we all could think of

where we continue to harbor resentment - and pursue a path of healing instead. The

reality of the hurts, and the validity of those things that caused those hurts ,I do not

question nor minimize. However, the nursing and feeding of the resentments that

followed those hurts are damaging and rob one of peace. I feel for that, and offer to

anyone in this situation a listening ear and time to help find a path to healing.

In Pastoral Council meeting this past week ,we examined our logo committee’s work

on designing a logo to be used on our signs, letterhead, website, etc. The good work

by these individuals has led to great results. They received feedback from the Coun-

cil and will go back to work on some modifications. I am glad to see progress in

this. We also looked at the draft of the parish survey form and discussed revi-

sions. We considered how to get it out to the widest group of parishioners, so that

your feedback can be brought to the table at future Pastoral Council meetings.

We are examining the parish needs for renovation. Your generous donations to the

restoration fund are kept in a separate account and used solely for the purposes of

needed renovations and special maintenance projects. These are needed to keep our

buildings in working order. You will also be hearing the comprehensive report of the

capital improvements committee when that committee has been formed and com-

pleted its work.

I mentioned last week about our celebration on March 25th for our parish feast day

of the Annunciation. The plans are going along well for this - look for more infor-

mation soon. A special Mass, some time for socializing, along with the talents and

inspirational presentation of a nationally renown “speed painting” artist - all these

should make for a nice celebration. Our social activities committee will be cutting its

teeth with this and is also planning an open house to be held at the rectory in the

Spring.

We have much to be grateful for, and a wonderful space here in this parish to grow

with each other. Our Lord calls us to greater love and less judgement of others; more

openness and forgiveness, and less resentment and grudges; a wonderful call to grow

together as a community. What a great opportunity!

God Bless you all,

Fr. Steve

Annunciation Parish Mission Statement:

Strengthened by the Eucharist, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and sent by Christ we seek by worship and service to compassionately

meet the corporal and spiritual needs of our parish family and beyond. We desire to warmly welcome the stranger and one another, and

together reach a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. In doing this, we are committed to the caring and ongoing Christian formation of

others by providing opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, and social growth within our faith and local community.

For those who are new or returning to the parish, we would like to welcome you to our Catholic community.

In this bulletin you will find many opportunities to be enriched and involved. If you would like to register as a

member or have any questions, call us at 978-632-0253, email us at [email protected], or stop

by the Parish Office during the week.
