For you are great, and you do wondrous deeds; you alone are God. Psalms 86:10
Dear Parents,
Tradition of Excellence 2019 is two weeks from Friday on November 15! If you
haven’t sent in the RSVP card you received in early September, please send it to school by Friday
11/1 or call the school office if you have misplaced your RSVP card. You’ve already paid for the
event with your Fundraising Fee, so you might as well come and get your money’s worth! Dress
this year is “come however you’re comfortable” – come in jeans or khakis or dress
it up a bit – whatever works for you. New families are welcome to come meet new
people. Come with your spouse or get some friends together for a night out. Open
bar with beer and wine runs from 6:30-10:30pm, dinner will be served at 7:30pm,
and dancing goes from 9:00-11:30pm. The silent auction will be run by a mobile
bidding company using a credit/debit card to make the bidding and check out
process easy. Bring some cash for the class basket raffle, dress down passes, and
other games. Finally, don’t forget that you could win $3,500 CASH in the big
raffle. Tickets will be available to purchase that evening.
Today the children in Grades 3 – 8 will be bringing home a sealed envelope with the results
from their CogAT/IOWA tests taking in September. The envelope includes a letter explaining
the purpose and use of the IOWA tests and how you can interpret your child’s scores. These tests
are just one snapshot of your child’s progress and should not be weighed too heavily. It is also
important to remember that, unlike most public schools, we take our standardized tests at the
beginning of the school year. Therefore, the grade equivalent scores really reflect your child’s
performance through the prior school year. In almost every category of testing, our students
average above the grade level that they have just entered.
Tomorrow is HALLOWEEN (even though the weather is looking more like
Christmas) and all students will have a free BLACK/ORANGE dress down day.
Students in the primary grades can bring their costumes to school to change into after
lunch. We are still planning to have the Primary Grade Halloween
Parade tomorrow at 1:00pm, but the temps will be cold tomorrow so
we are moving the parade location to the GYM. Parents, please come
to the school gym by 1:00pm to line the gym walls for the parade.
Last week the Aurora Fire Department visited PS-2nd Grade as part of their annual fire
safety campaign. Our Aurora firefighters always do a great job teaching our students extensive
information about what to do in the event of a house fire. I hope your child came
home to share what he/she learned and that your family discussed what to do in
case of an emergency. We are grateful for the Aurora Fire Department and all
our local first responders.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer Wardynski
