List of Contents
1. Scope
How to Carry out of Pre-Constructional Anti-Termite Chemical Treatment for the Building.
Anti-Termite Treatment
2. Health Hazards and Safety Measures
1. All chemical used for anti-termite treatment are poisonous and hazardous to health.
2. Keep the containers closed and secured.3. Wear protective clothing while handling the chemicals.4. Avoid flames in the vicinity during mixing.5. Never allow treatment chemicals to contaminate sources of drinking water.6. Follow instructions provided by the manufacturer in the MSDS ( Material Safety
Data Sheet ). 7. In case of poisoning take remedial measures according to the MSDS provided
by the manufacturer and as per IS 4015.

2. IS 6313 Part 2 – Pre-Constructional Anti-Termite Measures in Buildings
1. IS 6313 Part 1 – Constructional Measures
IS 6313 - Code of practice for anti-termite measures in buildings.
3. Codes & Standards
Anti-Termite Treatment
This Presentation is Specific to IS 6313 Part 2
4. Submit Material Specification and MSDS to EIC before start of work
3. Follow Indian Standard Safety Code and Site Specific Safety rules
2. Anti-termite treatment should be carried out in the early stages of construction of buildings:- Start from substructure and up to plinth level.
1. Anti-termite treatment is a specialist job: Use only specialized agencies for carrying out anti-termite treatment preferably a member of Indian Pest Control Association.
4. General Requirements
Anti-Termite Treatment
1. Remove all organic matter, construction debris, rubbish etc.2. Water logged foundations shall be treated after drying when the soil is
absorbent.3. For low penetration and slopping sites, surface to be scarified 75mm depth.4. Complete all cutting, excavation, leveling & grading before starting
treatment .
5. Site Preparation
Anti-Termite Treatment
1. Chloropyriphos 20% EC bearing ISI certification .2. Dilute 1 part of Chloropyriphos 20% EC with 19 part of water to get 1%
emulsion.3. Indian pest control association approved chemical shall be used.4. Contractor shall submit purchase vouchers to EIC for verification.
6. Materials
Anti-Termite Treatment
7. Mode of Application and Rate of Application
1. Chemical emulsion should be applied uniformly by sprayers.2. Specified rates should be applied at each stages of treatment.3. Pressure pumps and sprayers of adequate capacity shall be used for proper
penetration of chemical.
Anti-Termite Treatment
8. Treatment for Masonry Foundations & Basement
1. Foundations shall be completely enveloped with chemical barrier.
2. Treatment shall be from sub structure to plinth surface
3. Apply emulsion @ 5 Ltrs/ Sqm for normal load bearing structures
4. Vertical surfaces @ 7.50 Ltrs/Sqm.

9. Treatment for RCC Foundations & Basement
1. Treatment shall start at a depth of 500 mm below the ground level/FML.
2. Apply emulsion for vertical surfaces @ 7.50 Ltrs/Sqm.

10. Top Surface of Plinth Filling
1. Consolidated plinth surface shall be treated.2. Treatment shall be @ 5 Ltrs/Sqm before sub-base is laid.3. If consolidated soil doesn't allow the emulsion to seep through,
i. Make holes using 12mm dia rod @ 150 mm c/c in both directions.ii. Depth of hole shall be 50mm to 75 mm.iii. Pour chemical emulsion into holes and allow to saturate.

11. Junction of the Wall and Floors
Anti-Termite Treatment
1. Continuity of vertical chemical barrier on inner wall surface from ground level to finished floor level is required.
2. Treatment shall be carried out byi. Placing a channel of 30x30 mm at all junctions of wall and columns with
floor before sub grade is laid.ii. Make holes using 12 mm dia rod@ 150mm c/c and breakup the earth up
to ground level.iii. Pour chemical emulsion into the holes @ 7.5 Lit/Sqm. iv. Tamp back the soil into the channel and consolidate the earth.
12. External Perimeter of Building
1. The external perimeter of the building shall be treated.
2. The external perimeter of the building shall be roded at 150 mm c/c on both ways to make holes.
3. Minimum depth of hole shall be 300 mm.4. Pour the chemical emulsion in to the hole @
7.5 Ltr / Sqm of vertical surface.5. Tamp back the soil after treatment &
consolidate.6. If earth outside the building requires
grading, treatment shall be done after completion of grading.

13. Soil Surrounding Pipes and Conduits
1. Service pipes entering the foundation/building shall be treated.2. Treatment shall be carried out at a distance of 300 mm away from pipe in
both Side.3. Depth of treatment shall be 75 mm below the pipe.4. At each entry points treatment shall be carried for a distance of min 1 mtr
away from building/ foundation entry point.

15. Treatment of Soil Under Apron
Anti-Termite Treatment
1. Consolidated soil below the below apron shall be treated.2. Treatment shall be @ 5 Ltrs/Sqm before sub-base is laid.3. If consolidated soil doesn't allow the emulsion to seep
through, i. Make holes using 12mm dia rod @ 150 mm c/c in both
directions.ii. Depth of hole shall be 50mm to 75 mm.iii. Pour chemical emulsion into holes and allow to saturate.5 Ltrs /

16. Treatment over DPC1. Top of concrete damp proof course in external and internal walls shall be treated.2. A liberal coat of chemical solution shall be applied when the concrete is still
green.
Anti-Termite Treatment
17. Treatment of Walls Retaining Soil above Floor Level
1. Retaining walls like the basements walls, outer walls above the floor level shall be treated.
2. Treatment shall be in the retaining soil in immediate vicinity of the wall.3. Treatment shall be carried @ 7.5 Ltr per Sq.mtr of vertical surface.
Anti-Termite Treatment
18. Precautions During and After Treatment
1. Care to ensure that the chemical barrier is complete and continuous.
2. The treatment shall not be carried out when it is raining or when the soil is wet.
3. Treated soil surface shall not be disturbed.
4. Take immediate steps to restore the continuity and completeness of the barrier system if treated soil gets disturbed.
Anti-Termite Treatment
19. Guarantees
1. The contractor shall provide guarantee certificate as per specified format.2. Guarantee shall state that the building is protected against termite attack
for a period of 10 years.3. During the contract period if there is any termite attack the contractor will
carry out the necessary post constructional treatment at no extra cost.
Anti-Termite Treatment
20. Mode of Measurement
