A well-connected shortsea & deepsea port
Having reliable connections is a precondition for a global consolidation hub. Antwerp is located at the very heart of the European logistics network, making it an ideal consolidation port for project cargo. A major sea port, Antwerp is 80 km inland and close to a huge European manufacturing and consumer base. It is well known for its reliable frequent sailings (liners and semi-liners) to and from all corners of the world and its unbeatable hinterland connections.
Safety, health, quality and the environment are top priorities
The entire port community aims to have the highest quality standards in place. Training and developing our workforce is on top of the agenda and we see this as an important investment for the future.Training focuses on handling equipment safely with the utmost care for the cargo to avoid any damage. At the same time, education helps ensure the development of innovative handling techniques. All of our breakbulk terminal operators have the very latest safety, quality and environmental standards in place. Customised services such as packaging for safe transport, specialised cargo protection and many other value added services are available throughout the port.

Growing together
Antwerp is our second homeport in Europe. The port plays a vital part in our network, with its own cargo potential and the variety of connections Gerhard Janssen Director Marketing & Sales, Rickmers-Linie
Transport of project cargo is bound to increase
With the rise in population growth worldwide, the demand for raw materials and energy infrastructure is only set to increase. Estimates show that countries outside of the OECD will see energy demand grow by nearly 60% by 2040. Oil, gas and coal will be the top energy sources, accounting for 60% of global demand by then. Renewable energy is also playing an increasingly important role. In Europe particularly, the offshore wind power industry is aiming to reach ambitious targets by 2020.
Capacity to cope with growing demand
Over the next 15 years, the Antwerp Port Authority will invest no less than 1.6 billion euros in infrastructure and mobility. These investments will not only guarantee shipping access, with among other things a second lock on the left bank, but will also improve the hinterland connections. The private investments in the port are even of a bigger magnitude. Combined they will make sure all your requests for capacity, cutting-edge handling techniques and seamless operations are met.
SUSTAINABLE GROWTHThe port of Antwerp continues to expand. By focusing on intensive collaboration and sustainable enterprise, the port is able to ensure a balance between ecology and economy.

T o stand out from the competition on the world market, companies
must be able to call upon a sustainable, flexible, efficient and innovative supply chain in which all links play aneffective role. The port of Antwerp is a crucial link in this chain.
Good sea access, a dense network of hinterland connections and its geographical location are just the start of its advantages
Antwerp is also distinguished for its integrated range of logistics services, supported by single-window ICT, comprehensive expertise in freight handling and value-added services, and the “can-do” attitude that pervades the entire port community.
