New for the 2013 SkillsUSA Championships:
As part of the registration fee, this year again all contestants in contest which have a SkillsUSA Occupational Knowledge test will take the online test rather than a written exam on site. This test is only to be taken at the contestant’s school. Someone other than the contestant’s teacher will proctor the online test. Only contest which do not have an online test, then contestants will then be given the Skills-Related Written Test on site. We also have the PDP test online for this year. We are getting great reviews about this new process!

The service-learning grants range from $25,000 - $100,000 and are designed to create sustainable change in local communities across the United States and Canada. Applying organizations must be a public K-12, charter, or higher education institution; nonprofit organizations are also eligible if they are able to demonstrate how they plan to impact student achievement within the public K-12 curriculum. All applicants must have a youth contact and adult administrator, as the programs must be youth-driven and youth-led. Air Products hosted the SkillsUSA Louisiana fall Board Directors meeting at the Air Products Baton Rouge Hydrogen Plant.
Ms. Kathy Kees, SkillsUSA Louisiana Board Presi-dent presided at the Fall Board meeting. In atten-dance were all members of the Board with three board mem-ber were not able to attend. Our state officers attended the meeting and did give valuable contributions to the board when called on for their remarks. Guest: Mr. Darron Hebert, W.D. Smith Career Center and the Cosmetology instructor at-tended. The board approved one new board member, Gary Senior, Air Products.
