To underscore that intolerance is a function of something other than different religious beliefs, Nina Yankowitz’ multi-faith sanctuary empowers individuals to be in dialogue with 46,000 original scriptures from five diverse Faiths: The Old Testament, New Testament, The Quran, The Hindu Rig Vedas, and Buddhist texts. With interactive wands the individual curates topics and assigns more or less importance to each topic- word they select to explore while the database software parses and integrates the player’s topic-word (more or less importance) assignments to determine which three hundred color-coded search/results will display. The participant later learns from which religions their color-coded scripture results originated at a dedicated website. The architects of faith have created a flexible body of governing laws that have the propensity to grow and change through generations. The process of playing the games acknowledges that as the world turns, our personal perspectives change and accordingly what we search to find within the scriptures shifts. This insures that this kind of search can never settle into a permanent groove. The goal is to attain new questions and discover new personal search-result perspectives that are found from individual’s quests, ad infinitum and with no amen. Robotic mannequins representing devotees from each of the five faiths, perform a quintessential gesture like actors onstage, communicating with “The other” inside and out of a video projecting on the wall. The scenario depicts a world where religious intolerance perpetually causes ‘HOUSES OF WORSHIP’ to become ‘HOUSES OF WARSHIP’ shattering all shelters of faith. Criss~Crossing The Divine is an interactive artwork that addresses the ever-expanding religious intolerance that fuels violence and global wars. With interactive wands the individual curates topics and assigns more or less importance to each topic-word they select to explore while the database software parses and integrates the player’s topic-word (more or less importance) assignments to determine which three hundred color-coded search/results will display.

Using wands in the “Search & Seek Slider Game”, people can select, move & place, topic-words along each of five lines; towards the left to decrease the value of importance to the topic, or to the right to assign more importance to the topic, while at the same time, color-coded scripture/results display relevant perspectives on a wall.

* Touch tip of wand on red button and tap to search for topics that are important to you. Keep tapping until you see a topic you want to select.

* Slide topic-word to assign more or less importance to the topic: (Least importance towards left - Most importance towards right). As you slide topic-words, the color-coded scripture results will accordingly change.
