“To glorify God and love others through worship, study, and service.” James A. Cason Senior Pastor Scott Harris Assistant Pastor BILL HATCHER ELECTED TO LEAD SOUTH GEORGIA Congratulations to Bill Hatcher, our church Lay Leader, who was elected by the laity of the South Georgia Conference to lead the delegation from South Georgia to both the General Conference and the Jurisdictional Conference. e General Conference will be held next May in Portland, Oregon, and the Jurisdictional Conference will be held next July at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. Dr. Don Adams, a former pastor of Statesboro First UMC, was elected to lead the clergy delegation. PRAYERS FOR CHARLESTON As I write this on ursday, we have all been shocked at the news of the church killing in Charleston, SC. During a Bible study at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC, a gunman stood up and killed 9 persons including the pastor. We are all still trying to understand this senseless tragedy and the increased violence that seems to be sweeping our world. I am a part of a group of clergy both black and white who have organized a prayer service to be held at First African Baptist Church (545 Westside Road) at 6:00PM Sunday, June 21. I want to be careful of saying too much right now, but I would like to offer the following thoughts: is AME Church in Charleston has played an important role in the struggle for human rights. e AME Church split from the mainline Methodist Episcopal Church over the issue of slavery. erefore, they are our Methodist brothers and sisters. ALL lives matter to the God who created us. When we discriminate against another human being, our argument is really with God - not that person. Vengeance belongs to God - not us. Paul reminds us in I Corinthians 12 that we are all members of the same body. “e foot can’t say that because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body.” In that same chapter, Paul reminds us that “if one member suffers, we all suffer.” It might feel like weakness, but I ask us all to weep with all of our brothers and sisters. I believe that God weeps with us. --Pastor Jimmy June 21, 2015 Father’s Day Worship Services: Sunday School: Sanctuary: Fellowship Hall: Classrooms: 8:30AM & 11:00AM 9:01AM & 11:00AM 10:00AM Sunday, June 21, 2015 8:30, 9:01 & 11:00AM Traditional - Rev. PRAYERS FOR CHARLESTONAs I write this on Thursday, we have all been shocked at the news of the church killing in Charleston, SC.

I want to be careful of saying too much right now, but I would like to offer the following thoughts:

• This AME Church in Charleston has played an important role in the struggle for human rights. The AME Church split from the mainline Methodist Episcopal Church over the issue of slavery. Therefore, they are our Methodist brothers and sisters.

• ALL lives matter to the God who created us.• When we discriminate against another human being, our argument is really with

God - not that person. • Vengeance belongs to God - not us.• Paul reminds us in I Corinthians 12 that we are all members of the same body.

“The foot can’t say that because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body.”• In that same chapter, Paul reminds us that “if one member suffers, we all suffer.”• It might feel like weakness, but I ask us all to weep with all of our brothers and

sisters. I believe that God weeps with us.--Pastor Jimmy
