Chancel ChoirAre you seeking a small group or a place to serve? If so, the Chancel Choir is seeking new members! With shorter rehearsals, summer is a great time to give singing in the choir a try. Even if you’ve never sung in a choir before, please consider joining us. There’s never an audition – you don’t even have to be able to read music. All you need is a desire to “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!” We may sing at dedicated times during the service, but we never perform. Our singing is our contribution to worship and is an offering of praise to the Lord. So don’t think “I’m not good enough.” You are more than good enough and we want you to join us. Contact our Director of Music Ministries/Organist Pierce Dickens at [email protected] for more details if you are interested.

Acknowledgements I am pleased that Tommy McMillan will be serving as guest organist today while I am away on vacation and at the national convention of the American Guild of Organists. I am also very grateful to Lee Walker for directing the chancel choir in my absence. Lee does a wonderful job leading our chancel ringers and First Methodist is fortunate that he is willing to share his time and talents. Please express your appreciate to both of these men for their service. - Pierce Dickens

The unfailing hope of the Lord is like a song in the heart.Clothed in Christ, we are justified by faith.Belonging to Christ, we are one in Him.

As children of Abraham,We are promised to inherit God’s love.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITHThe Apostles’ Creed #881 Hymnal

I believe in God the Father Almighty;Maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord:who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven,

and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
