Student achievementsIt has been a very successful week of learning for our students! Styx class have commenced learning how to “code” with the assistance of Mrs Morrison, and have learnt so quickly and been able to apply this knowledge to teach themselves. Franklin class have been learning about whole numbers, halves and quarters which Peyton succinctly explained to Mrs Harrison. Yarra class have also been working hard in Maths to understand how to make, say and write two digit numbers and Billy has immensely improved his ability to complete his learning tasks. Jayden in Nepean class has earned his Maths passport for his mastering of times tables up to 12, for which he should be extremely proud. Murray class students Brooklyn, Charlee and Noah have achieved Mathletics certificates for the huge number of tasks they have recently completed and Blaze is making impressive progress with his writing. Daly class students Emily, Nevaeh, Lily, Amelia, Finlay, Imogen, Ellie and Candice are keen writers paying attention to engaging their audience with interesting language, thereby “showing not telling”. Achieving their learning goals in Swan class are Thomas for his correct letter formation and Desmond for being able to count backwards from 10. Swan class have been demonstrating their pleasing progress with their independent writing skills, in particular Tabitha, Tom, Bailey and Thomas showing their focussed writing habits. Kooper, Ilias and Ava in Darling class displayed their reading ability and confidence on the first day reading a new book. Darling class, as a whole, are making commendable progress in independent writing with Jaiden, Zavier, Joel, Harvey, Beau, Kai, Kooper, Matilda, Macie and Ilias proudly displaying their efforts.Keep up these fantastic efforts!Stamp Chart SuperstarsCongratulations to the following students who have filled their stamp chart, or accumulated dojo points, bydemonstrating and following classroom rules.Snowy: Nancy, Jarvis, Matilda, Noah, EbonySwan: Bailey, Tom, Heath, Harry, EmeliaFranklin: Blake, Ivy, Tahlia, Ruby, NaiteYarra: Ethan, Frank, Tyler, Joshua, Corey, Kalani, Riley, Skye, Sierra, MayaMargaret: Ivy, Jayson, Zaine, Noah, Lachlan, Olivia, Isla, MahliDaly: Finlay, LukeNepean: Jack, Will, Joel, Jet, BaileyOrara: Zavier, Caylen, AkiraStyx: Tommie

Peer Support - Week 6 – Joining In with OthersIn this week’s Peer Support session the children will be exploring how to join groups and how to accept others into their friendship group. The activities will give the children a chance to practise these skills, as well as how to say no in a respectful way, cope with being told no and inviting others to join them. Encourage your child to discuss with you the importance of saying no to people in a respectful way so that they don’t losefriends. Also discuss with your child various options they have at school if they should find themselves without anyone to play with during break time.Aboriginal performanceLast Thursday afternoon our students were delighted with a performance led by two talented Aboriginal dancers. Students learnt some Aboriginal words, saw three dances to welcome and to cleanse the meeting place and then joined the dancers in some new dance movements. It was a highly entertaining afternoon and a terrific introduction into the importance of NAIDOC Week, which occurs the first week of these coming school holidays.Aboriginal Students’ Holiday FunPlease investigate the following link for a terrific local opportunity during the next school holidays. https://www.australianbotanicgarden.com.au/What-s-On/Indigenous-Olympics

Donation of Exercise BallsIf anyone has large rubber exercise balls or hoppers they are not using and can donate to school, this would be greatly appreciated.

National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)The nationally consistent approach to data collection provides all Australian schools, education authorities and the community with a clear picture of the number of students receiving adjustments because of disability in schools, and the adjustments provided by teachers to enable them to participate in education on the same basis as other students. The information that schools must give to the Department includes:• the student’s year of schooling• the student’s category of disability (physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional)• the student’s level of adjustment (support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive adjustment). The information will not explicitly identify individual students. If you do not wish information about your child to be included in this data collection please inform our office staff by Friday.
