As followers of Christ, our destination is simple; become more like Jesus. We believe this journey happens best when we travel with people who have already been down that road and can coach us along the way. Those people are mature Christians who demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control empowered by the Holy Spirit in their lives. When we come together as a church family regardless of background, race or social status, it is a witness to the world that Jesus has changed us. John 13:35 says, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” This is why spiritual growth can’t happen alone. Over 50 times the Bible uses the phrase “one another.” Pray for one another, encourage one another, serve one another, etc. Those practices don’t happen in isolation. So what’s the point? We have mapped out a series of four classes that will help our church on our journey from membership, to maturity, to ministry and then to mission. These classes will repeat at various times throughout the year, and you are invited to get a spiritual boost by joining one. Classes can be taken in any order. The Ministry class will help you identify the unique S.H.A.P.E. God gave you for ministry. We will talk about your Spiritual Gifts, the kinds of things God puts on your Heart, your Abilities, Personality, and life Experience. These factors all work together to help you minister to the people God puts in your path. Spring is in full force and we have been fortunate to have received a good deal of rain, we need to continue to keep the victims of the mudslides and fires in our prayers.

Our partner in ministry on campus, the Arabic Church, which has been worshipping here for 10 years, will be leaving to their new church location in Whittier in the near future, they will be missed. We send them off with our prayers for a successful and blessed transition. However, they will be continuing to use the Studio, in the basement of the Sanctuary, for broadcasting and will be broadcasting from Germany during the World Cup soccer tournament, reaching millions of Muslims with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Our updating projects are moving along with anticipated progress in Fellowship Hall, and our Sanctuary

lighting will be updated in the near future.

Once again, I want to remind everyone that we have several openings for Elders and Deacons and I want you all to consider serving in your area of expertise or consider nominating someone you know is qualified and has a desire to serve. We have openings in the areas of: Campus Ministries, Trustees, Personnel, Buildings & Grounds, and in Deacons for assisting on various committees. We have Nominating Forms available in the church office. Please give this some prayerful consideration. Talented leadership is essential as we continue to be “WELCOMING PEOPLE ON A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TO BECOME FULLY DEVOTED FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST.”

Kenneth Phiri and Alfred Nyanda, both pastors from Malawi with over 3,000 people in their churches, shared on All Nations Sunday their vision of feeding and educating women and girls, to give them opportunities for education and better health, and preventing HIV/AIDS. Malawi has the highest poverty rate in the world. Our church hopes to raise funds for 3 tractors, which would transform productivity and expand food production in their country and in Nigeria.

In April, our church family will be focusing on the Door of Hope. Caroline Kavich, Manager of Volunteer and Church Relations at Door of Hope, has given us an updated list of items that they need. There are three different categories: cleaning, furniture, and small appliances. Their families love receiving new appliances in their kitchens when they graduate to use

in their apartments so that is always a great donation. If you want to provide cleaning supplies, it is fun to do it in a “basket” form--using the laundry basket to hold it all and wrap it up. Furniture is always needed but we ask that it be in good shape for their families! Let her know if you have any questions regarding the donations. We are also building a Tower of Blessing to be presented on the last Sunday in April. Cleaning supplies, paper goods, and gift cards will be collected at the Care and Compassion Table throughout the month.

If you are interested in joining one or more of the Deacons’ ministries, stop by the Care and Compassion Table for more information.

Thank you for all you do to help our church and for all your ministries here and abroad.

PRESCHOOL AT ARCADIA COMMUNITYHappy spring! Spring is a time for longer days, flowers blooming everywhere, children playing outside longer, and more time with family. I love the warmer weather and watching our preschool children laugh, play and explore outside. It’s exciting to see the children develop from the beginning of the year until the end. Watching light bulbs go off in their heads as they discover new things and master new concepts! I pray you feel the same excitement this spring as you discover new amazing miracles in God’s creation and maybe learn a new thing or two.

We have been keeping very busy. Our Grandparents’ Day turned out fantastic! The children performed in the sanctuary and then had fun in the classroom. There were over 65 grandparents and great-grandparents in attendance. The preschool was full, not only with bodies but full of love!

Thank you to all who purchased See’s candy! We are having a food fundraiser at Panda Express in April-information to follow. We will also be expanding our Memorial Wall of tiles this month. If your children or grandchildren or even you attended our preschool; or if you

would just like to leave a memorial in someone’s honor, please create a tile that will permanently be attached to the preschool walls. There will be forms and paper for the artwork in the foyer on Sunday and/or you can pick one up in the preschool or church office. Please check your bulletin or the preschool’s Facebook page (Arcadia Preschool) for details. You can also keep up on what’s happening on a daily basis on our Facebook page.

The Cottage remodel is complete and will be furnished soon. The Cottage will house one classroom, a teacher’s lounge, a teacher’s workroom, staff bathroom, office, and children’s bathroom. We will be starting a Kindergarten class this August in the Cottage. Please pray that God brings the families He wants into our preschool and the new kindergarten class. Watch your bulletin for an Open House announcement. Thank you for your prayers and support for our preschool, staff, families, and children!
