Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that August is already here! By the time you are reading this newsletter, I am in
Poland. I will return to Detroit on August 2. I will share some pictures of the trip in the newsletter
next month.
Just as in July, there are not many things happening at St. John’s Deaf Center or Our Lady of
Loretto’s this month. However, we will have a picnic on August 27 in Northville. We will have Mass
at the picnic at 4PM.
There is a deaf family who moved to Detroit from Iraq several months ago because of many
problems in their home country. At their new home, they lack many things. If you have a dresser,
headboard for a twin size bed, or other furniture in your basement but you have not used them for a
while, then can you kindly donate them to this family? Doing this is one of good ways to celebrate
the Year of Mercy. Please see me if you have questions.
Enjoy the month of August and stay cool. God bless.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. MD

A Prayer For Loving Our Neighbor:
Dear God, it is so easy to ignore people
we would rather not have to deal with.
Help me to remember your second
commandment is to love our neighbor.
Give me the grace to notice the
forgotten and the ignored, especially the
elderly, the homeless, or the people
others call crazy. If I can do anything to
brighten their day, let me have the
courage to do it. Help me to open my
eyes and heart to people in need. Amen
St. Jane Frances de Chantel Talks to Us
“If the mind can say nothing let the heart speak. Though we had nothing else to
say to God than to tell him that we love him and he is worthy of love,
that is enough”.
