Conventional solution of a building block on the ground: the rooms above are disturbed by the proximity of other buildings
Social areas are not disturbed by near build-ings; rooms are protected in a lowest level.

TThe primary idea for the conception of this urban hotel, was that it would be impossible to compete, in height and views, with its neighbors.
Surrounded by residential buildings and by the huge Hilton Barcelona, the project distin-guishes itself by choosing to “excavate” the guest rooms, giving them a more intimate environment, and to “uplift“ from the ground the social areas, which are not disturbed by the proximity of the other buildings.
Between these two levels, the “dug“ and the “suspended“, there is space for a public square, covered, as an access to the hotel offering free space to this “over occupied” block.

TThisexercisewasmyfirst approach to theuse of modulation, repetition and insertion of a construction in a real terrain.
The building is settled with a metric grid of 3 per 3 meters, climbs the slope and tries to preserve some of the existent trees.
The program is divided in two main groups: the first one is related with acting, and in-cludes a reception, a multi-purpose space, a bar and an exterior area for recitals; the sec-ond, concerning the practice and rehearsals, is divided in individual and collective cells.
So, act and rehearsal are separated by ramps; above them the recital stage is sus-pended, “framing” the top of the trees.

SThe Space Conductors are a recreational equipment proposal that assumes architec-ture as exploitation and modeling of tridimen-sional space.
The design method, perhaps not conven-tional, “rips“ a group of buildings in the city´s historical centre to construct two pedestrian corridors: these two “people conductors” cre-ate different spacial environments, as they rip the façades and raise to the building tops, revealing different perspectives of the same city.

This large scale car parking pursuits two main goals: to create a landmark, with vi-sual impact in Guimarães landscape and to regard the special features of the car move-ment (its dimensions, maneuvers angles and inclinations).

Located at the seaside, in Leça da Palmeira, theRefinedHouseoffersahypotheticalresi-dential space for the Petrogal director. Near the beach and facing the towers of the oil refinery, this house provides family restingspaces and work areas, where guest and clients are received.
The shape and position of the house spaces areapurereflectionofthismixedprogram, divided in two main blocks: one contain-ing the social and work activities, the other dedicated to family and individual activities. These two intertwine, allowing the family to occupy the workspaces or allowing guests to integrate a more private atmosphere.

Vertical Houses offer two ways of living: a tower that seeks panoramic views and apart-ment density, and a lower building, organized around small “patios”, where neighbor rela-tions and contact with nature are promoted.
The tower integrates apartments with one, two or three bedrooms, while the lower build-ing combines a 4-bedroom “duplex” with a small studio, which could work separately or inside a family circle (family + a emancipated son or the grandparents, for example).

Made during the Erasmus period in Spain, thisproject tried to fulfill thespaceand theneed for facilities by the artists that live and work in Barcelona. The program combined studios for artists, workshops and public ser-vices.
The project took place in an old textile facto-ry, not in function anymore and abandoned, but with an excellent position in the centre of Sant Andreu district (Barcelona).

Inspired on the metallic connections between buildings (chains, wheels, stairs), this project proposes the construction of a museum-walkway, crossing all the industrial blocks, (dedicated to different artistic areas), and functioning as an exposition space for their activities. Such a link establishes contact between public and artists, without disturb-ing them.
Thispedestriancorridor, visuallyunifiedwiththe same pavement, defines an ascendantwalkway, which passes through various ex-position halls, an auditorium and ends up in a panoramic bar on the top of the highest building.

Braga is a city with roman past, which lies under new layers of construction. The proj-ect tries to reveal the historical layers of the city, allowing the inhabitants to know and enjoy the presence of the ruins and remains (that also can be found in the interior of resi-dential blocks).

The present work uses the history of a domestic compartment as an excuse to think the house. Using the fact that the “bathroom”, here re-nominated hygienic space, shows a late appearance in the home and deals with the turbulent relation of Man and his own body, one intends to realize which repercussions had its evolution in the internal domestic structu-re, focusing the attention on the relations established between this one and the remaining dwelling chambers (the kitchen, the sleeping room and the passages).
Inthefirstpart–thetemporalperspective–theattentionisfocusedontheevolutionofthespacehavinginaccountfivespecificperiodsofHistory.Asso, fromtheendoftheMiddleAges (period in which the ablution becomes an activity carried out in the domestic interiors) until the end of the 20eth century, as an approach to the present day, the hygienic space is studied as an answer to the urban hygiene criteria, to the technological progress and to the corporality of the actions that take place within.
Inthesecondpart–mutationsofthedomesticorganism–thesameevolutionisreadbythelight of four subjects, where are focused the privatization of the house and the dichotomies intimacy / exhibition (thinking about the physical dimension of hygiene, the physical pleasure and the bashfulness), segregation / association (analyzing how the compartimentalization of the space was affected by the constant confrontation between clean and unclean) and mobility/fixation(observingtheconsequencesofthetechnologicalevolution,whichmakesunnecessary the portability of the sanitary equipments).
The conclusion redirects the analysis to the question of project, representing the house as a modelinconstantevolution,flexibletothenecessitiesofthesociety.Itisdefendedthevalueofthehabitat,asanexperimentspaceandreflectionoftheMan,whooccupiesit.
