Cheri O’Brien Fine Art, 618 Canyon Road, 425-308-2061Tom Dodge’s photographs of the Southwest capture aspects of its enduring cultures, stunning land-scapes, and spectacular skies. Dodge, who spent 35 years as a commercial and fine art photographer, grew up on a Minnesota farm, and his work often continues to center on agriculture. He joins self-taught narrative artist Cheri O’Brien, who invests her whimsical, sometimes melan-cholic, paintings of children, animals, people, and hybrid characters with an enig-matic sense of absurdity in Nocturnes, an exhibit of their respective nighttime visions. The show opens with a 4 p.m. reception on Friday, Feb. 8, and runs through Feb. 28.

El Zaguán, 545 Canyon Road, 505-983-2567The Historic Santa Fe Foundation presents On/Off Hours 5, the fifth annual staff art show. The exhibi-tion includes collages by HSFF’s office manager Jacqueline Hill, an installation of photographs of Japan

by development associate Melanie McWhorter, stained glass art and wall pieces by preservation specialist Mara Saxer, and drawings by execu-tive director Pete Warzel. Not only are they on a mission to preserve Santa Fe’s historic properties, including the 1854 adobe home on Canyon Road that houses their offices, they also rent out living spaces and studio space at El Zaguán to artists. Now they get their own chances to shine. The staff show opens with a 5 p.m. reception on Friday, Feb. 8, and runs through Feb. 25.

Zalma Lofton Gallery, 407 S. Guadalupe St., 505-670-5179Celebrate the collaboration between Legend Nano Gallery and Zalma Lofton Gallery at the annual Valentine’s Day pop-up show, Two of Hearts. The galleries joined forces by breaking down the wall between them to make the neighboring spaces into one. The show features jewelry by Lauren Aguilar, sculptures and figu-rines by Cathy Carr, and chocolates by chef Andrea Abedi from The Temptress. This is a one-night event. Artwork by Michael Mass, Michael Snodgrass, David Krovblit, and other gallery artists remains up through February. The reception is at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8. An after-party follows at the Draft Station (60 E. San Francisco St.).

Art.i.fact, 930-C Baca St., 505-982-5000Austin Eichelberger’s photography consists mainly of self-portraits. But his primary cre-ative endeavor is poetry. In Typeface, he merges these two interests together in a series

of double-exposed images overlaid with poetry that’s rendered in the font Courier New. The series was a way to combine his love of words and imagery. “In both crafts I’m drawn to how layers can be uti-lized: double-exposed photos are literally pictures blended together, and my poems center around images layered in hopes of evoking emotional reac-tions,” he wrote in a statement. Typeface opens with a 4 p.m. reception on Saturday, Feb. 9, and includes a 6 p.m. poetry reading by Eichelberger, Serena Rodriguez, Jesse Short Bull, and Jennifer Love.

Ellsworth Gallery, 215 E. Palace Ave., 505-989-7900The commercial, saccharine, and sentimental character of Valentine’s Day gets an overdue undermining in Censored! a group exhibit of frank depic-tions of sexuality, taboos, and head-on critiques of societal repression. “Somewhat kinkier than a Hershey’s Kiss, the show aims to playfully disrupt the otherwise sweet tone of the Valentine’s holiday,” said Nathan Rubinfeld, the gallery’s director of program-ming. Censored! includes work by Erica Lord, Tommy Bruce Atmus, and Zachary L. Taylor, and goes on view on Monday, Feb. 11. A reception follows at 5 p.m. on Feb. 15, and the show remains up through April 7.
