What if you were the Luckiest Person for a Day... What comes to mind when you think of St. Patrick's Day? For me it's; shamrocks, leprechauns, four- leaf clovers, the color green, luck, and of course, Shamrock shakes. St. Patrick's Day is a holiday that focuses on luck. To that we owe the four-leaf clover and namely the fact that finding a four-leafed clover is undisputedly a rare, if not lucky, occurrence. So dream with me for a bit…what would you do if you stumbled upon a four-leaf clover and were the luckiest person in the world for a day? Would this impact the lives of others around you? What would your lucky day look like? Me? I don't have to dream about finding a lucky four-leaf clover, because I live my dream every day that I walk through the doors of Ascend Services. I consider myself to be the luckiest person in the world to serve an amazing group of individuals who come to Ascend every day with smiles on their faces, love in their hearts, and an inspiring eagerness to work. Our workers are able to complete jobs that are time consuming, rush orders, rework, non compatible with normal production, low efficiencies or require a larger workforce. Mobile Work Crews are designed to provide community based work opportunities for small groups of participants along with crew leaders at your location. Ascend will provide support and training to participants in the area of both the actual work and the culture of the company. Employment Services assists students and adults with disabilities choose, obtain and retain employment in the community. We have trained staff who focus on targeting jobs that best fit a person’s talents and abilities. Time is spent with each individual, working with them to develop a resume, practicing interviewing skills and any other job readiness activities needed in order to prepare for employment. New research from Accenture, in partnership with Disability: IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), reveals that companies that embrace best practices for employing and supporting more persons with disabilities in their workforce have outperformed their peers.
