Assignment 12: Initial Ideas

Song: “Guillotine” by Jon BellionGenre: PopStyling: During the performance scenes the artist will be dressed in close current to the time however he will have a bright red top and shoes and belt, as this will be his USP.What will Happen in the video?: the video will consist of two different narratives, one of a robbery being planned the other is of the robber and his girlfriend. The overall narrative being that the character has to choose between his girlfriend or the money. In-between the narrative there will be some performance in relative locations.How will it meet conventions?: The artist is wearing mainstream clothing and I am using bright colours (red) which are associated with pop culture. The theme of the song is relationship and love which is the norm in pop music.

Song: “Pulaski at Night” by Andrew BirdGenre: Alternative/IndieStyling: Shirt, bow tie and waste coat with jeans What will happen in the video?: The video will start with establishing shots of typically “Boring” locations however as the video goes on we see the character turning the mood around. Lots of car shots giving the video a road trip narrative. The performance aspects will be filmed somewhere scenic with a country view.How will it meet conventions?: The video is more about the artists performance which is typical for an indie artist trying to build their image. The narrative is up to interpretation which is normal in alternative music.

Song: “Weekend” by Mac millerGenre: Hip-hop/RapStyling: Outlandish: Fir coat, gold chain and a flat cap. The artists outlandish style is USP.What will Happen in the video?: the performance will be in different street location and inner city locations. The narrative will be almost comedy based and will be about someone's boring week building up to an inventive weekend.How will it meet conventions?: as classic in rap the video will be in an urban environment and the artist will be portrayed as a gangster and illegal activity will happen in the video e.g. drug use.
