Trainspotting - Drama

1. This is the first title shown in the opening sequence to illustrate the significant influence the company had on the film. Capital letters in bold white are used to help to make the initial titles stand out. The black background contrasts with the white writing, helping it stand out further. This opening title also signifies the low budget of the hit film as well as the fact that it is British.

The opening sequence doesn’t present credits for the actors but instead for the actual characters themselves, offering the audience an early insight. The white and bold writing stands out well in terms of framing as its centred next to the character it represents. This helps engage the audience further as the graphical images and the titles are placed suitably, helping to give a positive reaction to the film from the offset. This signifies the importance of the characters within the film rather than the actors that portray them.

3. This is the second title of the opening sequence, presenting the protagonist of the film to the audience. The bold, capital lettered text is centred within the frame, standing out with the character beside it. The white colour contrasts with the others, helping it to stand out for viewers. This is given around a 5 second screen time so that audiences are well aware of the protagonist. This is non conventional approach which is actually very affective and suitable for the film.

2.This is the first title shown in the opening sequence to illustrate the significant influence the company had on the film and it reinforces the films comical link with the marvel cinematic universe. Capital letters in bold white are used to help the writing stand out in the red coloured background to viewers. This is a suitable and conventional use within superhero movie openings.

3.This is the second title shown in the opening sequence as this is likely the studio that funded the film itself. The titles are white and quite bold to again help them stand out. They are also sans serif, representing a formal approach to the audience as the company ’TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX’ is well respected In the modern film world. They are placed well within the frame in clear focus and sight of viewers.

1. The opening sequence doesn’t offer credits for the actors or the actual characters themselves, going for the non conventional approach and instead offering a comical name for each of the many characters. This helps engage the audience further as the graphical images/animation as well as the titles are placed suitably, helping to give a positive reaction to the film from the offset. This also helps establish the humorous and sarcastic approach of the film. It also gives an insight to the violent nature of the non conventional marvel film.
