Christ is indeed risen, Alleluia! Just as spring flowers are blossoming and trees are wearing a new cloth of green leaves, the Church puts the purple veil away and wears the colors of gold and white to signify God’s glory and hon-or. Welcome to the season of Easter! For the last 40 days of Lenten we have been preparing, and now it is the time for us to rejoice and be glad because we have witnessed God’s amazing victory. On Easter vigil, we witnessed Christ conquer the darkness of death through his resurrection. Indeed he is “the light of the world” (Mt 5:14).
In a special way, I would like to welcome those who received the Sacrament of Initiation on Easter. You have been waiting for this moment for a year, and now you are one of us, a Christian, a follower of Jesus. I hope that you will become active members of our vibrant Christ the King community, and that you will continuously grow in God day by day. Everyone at Christ the King welcomes you, and I look forward to seeing your growth and love in God and in our community.
It is always joyful to see many faithful coming to celebrate Easter liturgy! To those who recently visited our church, know that you are welcome at our parish. It is always amazing to see how many are looking for a spiritual home, especially on Easter, and we at Christ the King would like to extend our hands and hearts to welcome you. If you are new to the area or our church, please take a moment to contact our church office. A member of our welcoming committee would like to meet with you, as would I, and introduce you to our faith community. So by all means, do not hesitate to contact us.
From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all the faithful who made our Easter liturgy possible. I am sure that many have been touched by God’s love and glory through our liturgy, and certainly you are a big part of that.
THANK YOU for your help and dedication to God and our parish community. It is indeed time for us to celebrate. Let us bring God’s joy and love to everyone we encounter for the next 50 days of Easter celebration. God loves you very, very much!

Lent Reflections with Fr. Barron
We hope you have enjoyed the Lenten Reflection book by Father Robert Barron! Easter matters! ”It reveals that love is more powerful than death.” Death no long-er enslaves us. During these 40 days maybe you have come closer to Christ, maybe you have learned a little about Christ’s love for us, may-be you have experienced a conver-sion. Whatever you have encoun-tered, remember, Jesus Christ suf-fered, died and has risen for you! His resurrection from the dead helps us join in His mystical body called the CHURCH! He has risen, indeed He has risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!

ADULT
Dear Parents:
Your child’s vocation—or answer to God’s call—begins with you.Through your prayers, examples of holiness and faithfulness, and invitation to pursue noble goals, you provide the foundation for your child to live a full life of great joy.
AS PARENTS you are your children’s first teachers and witnesses to the gospel. The church relies on you to awaken in your children the knowledge that they are loved and that they have a sacred pur-pose: to share that love with others for the greater glory of God.
From teaching them their first prayers to introducing them to the art of questioning and listening, you are providing your children with the essential skills they’ll need to discern where God is calling them on the path of love, service, and fulfillment.
TEN suggestions for fostering happy and holy families—essential for nurturing vocations:
1. Pray daily as a family in thanksgiving, for guidance, for for-giveness.
2. Talk with your children about their worries and concerns; their hopes and dreams.
3. Share meals together as often as possible.
4. Tell stories about your family history—the good and the bad. Talk about how you became a family, and the day your children were born.
5. Decide together your family goals and what your biggest do’s and don’ts are.
6. Be active in your parish and your community. Encourage your children to participate in the ministries of the parish.
7. Teach family members to fight fair and forgive easily.
8. Talk about your faith and the men and women, including sis-ters, brothers, and priests, who have had an important influence on you.
9. Work to reduce stress among all family members. Have fun and play together each day.
10. Encourage your children to be creative and compassionate and know that those are the greatest of God’s gifts.

Medicine & the Gospel of Life
Abortion, contraception, abortifacient drugs, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), embryonic stem cell research: some of the most controver-sial issues of our time. These are topics of daily conversation and affect the most intimate aspects of our lives, yet many of us either don’t know or don’t understand the Church’s teaching on them. To prepare us for these conversations, to help us learn what the Church teaches, why the Church teaches it, and ethical alterna-tives, Founding President of The John Paul II Foundation for Life and Family, Arland Nichols, will present “Medicine & the Gospel of Life” on April 18 from 8:30 a.m. until noon at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy. “Far from a never-ending list of no’s, the Church’s teachings on these issues are primarily an affirmation of great goods to which the Church proclaims a resounding ‘YES!’”
A continental breakfast will be included. Tickets are $10 and are available at www.jpiilifecenter.org in the Calendar of Events. For more information: [email protected] or 512-407-2900.

In addition to the regular mass schedule:
Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 2:30 p.m. Mass at 3:00 p.m.
Divine Mercy Sunday, celebrated on the Sunday after Easter Sunday, is a relatively new addition to the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar. Celebrating the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ, as revealed by Christ Himself to Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, this feast was ex-tended to the entire Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II on April 30, 2000, the day he canonized Saint Faustina. Known as the Apostle of the Divine Mercy, Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska of the Most Blessed Sacrament was a Polish nun who received frequent revelations and visits from Christ from 1931 until her death in 1938. The Divine Mercy Novena, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the Three O'clock devotions were revealed by Christ to Saint Faustina.

Volunteer Appreciation
It takes many volunteers to keep a vibrant church like Christ the King running smoothly. Every week two lovely ladies, Maria Ornelas and Stella Santos, stop by the office to insert the extra page in 700 bulletins! We are blessed to have such dedicat-ed parishioners. Maria and Stella, we appreciate your generous spirits!
Many, many thanks to everyone who brought in baby items for the Cross of Simon and put them in the crib! We have already taken two trunk-loads full to the Gabriel Pro-ject. The crib will not be on display Easter weekend, how-ever, if you still have items to turn in, please take them to the parish office. Again, thank you for your generosity!
