O dear! O dear! Don’t be too late!
What is “a hopper of ditches, a cutter of corn, a little brown cow without any horns”? As we near Easter
towards the end of March we are going to celebrate all things Rabbit at our first Readers’ Evening of the
year.
At Elma Turner Library, 6.15pm on Thursday 26 March, we will be learning about Rabbit Island from Tasman District Council, learning about the critters themselves from the staff of Natureland and we will
be reading rabbit folktales and carrying out other
bunny-related activities.
The evening will be suitable for all ages, and there will
be separate children’s activities for part of it.
We will have a rabbit–related reading list – how many
rabbit-related books can you think of? How many
famous literary rabbits?
Did you know a female rabbit is a doe and a male a
buck – and that young rabbits are called kittens?!
Why not hop along on the 26th and learn more
rabbitty things? Appropriate light refreshments will
be served.

Would you like to have your say about
Nelson’s library services?
Through March and April, Nelson Public Libraries will
embark on a project to survey customers to make sure
that the libraries and library staff meet the needs of
our community.
We want to know if we’re providing you with the right
services, at the right times, in the right places and to
the right standards. Is there anything you want us to
provide that we don’t currently? Are the staff
available to you when you need them? Do we have
the right skills? What would you change about the
library if you could?
“We’ve designed the survey to be quick and
straightforward to complete, however, there is also
room for plenty of comment, if that’s what customers
want to provide,” said the libraries’ Team Leader
Service Delivery, Sarah Fry.
It’s hoped as many people as possible will complete the
survey online via a link on the libraries’ website. There
will also be paper copies of the survey available at the
Elma Turner, Stoke and Nightingale libraries, and at
Founders Heritage Park. The survey closes on 30 April.
“It’s our community’s opportunity to be heard about
what’s important in a library service, and the libraries’
opportunity to plan for the community’s future.”
