The District 12 Shotgun Match was held was held May 19 in La-redo. Atascosa County sent 3 shooters, Orlando Garza III, Na-than Ricks and Montgomery Cain. All shot well but Montgom-ery came home High Overall In-termediate with a second in Skeet and a third in both Whiz Bang and Trap. Congratulations shoot-ers. Montgomery Cain is pictured with his winnings.

Registration for the 4-H Shotgun Camp will open until June 11, 2017 on 4-H Connect and will be held June 25-28 in Brazos County. Registration is first come, first serve for the 60 youth positions and 10 adult coach positions. District 12 Livestock Judging Contest: The District 12 4-H Livestock Judging Contest was held in Fredericks-burg on May 6. Atascosa County had a team in each of the age groups. The Senior team of Ethan Ayala, Emily Chessher, Tyler Pearson and Mason Vick placed 3rd and will be able to go on to the State Contest in June. In ad-dition, Ethan Ayala placed first individual in Reasons. The Intermediate Team of Hallie Bates, Max Chessher, Weston Eisenhauer and Madison Maglievaz were third place overall team in their age division. In support of our local Lytle First Responders, the Lytle 4-H club had a car wash to raise money to buy snacks and water to the Lytle Volunteer Fire Department. 4-H STAR AWARD APPLICATIONS DUE JUNE 15, 2017

Gold Star Award—Member must be at least 15 at the time of ap-plication and must have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including current year. The 4-H member must have submitted a Record book to be considered for the award. The 4-H member must have completed projects in three different project are-as, have submitted appropriate record forms, and have participated in one or more activities. Silver Star Award— Must be 12 at the time of application but not have reached their 15th birthday as of September 1st of the current year Bronze Star Award— Must be 9 or in the third grade but not have reached their 12th birthday by September 1st of the current year.

The Atascosa 4-H Ag Product Id Team practices most Thursdays at the Atascosa County Extension Office. Look out for your email with specific dates and times and other project information. Feel free to call our office if you have any questions or concerns.

Individuals interested in helping plan for this years County Fair activities and shows should make plans to attend the next meeting. The meeting will be held June 13, 2017 at 7:00pm. A location will be announced at a later time. Please call the Extension Office for more info. Everyone is invited...bring your ideas!

State 4-H Horse show will be held on from July 22 through the 29th at the Taylor County Expo

2018 Austin, Houston, & San Antonio Stock Show Turkey and Broiler Orders

Turkey orders for the 2018 Stockshows are due Friday, June 23,2017 to the Extension

Office. Turkey Poults are $4.25 per bird ($ 106.25 per 25 poults). Broiler order infor-

mation for the 2018 Stockshows will be available after September 1st.

Each exhibitor MAY order an individual set of birds (up to 75) OR siblings within the

same household may order and share a set of birds (up to 75). In other words, a family

with multiple exhibitors can order an individual set of birds for each exhibitor in the

family, OR if they wish, they can order one set of birds for the entire family.

In either case, the maximum number of birds in a set that an exhibitor can select from

for the show is 75 birds. This rule is the same for turkeys and broilers for all shows.

Please note: families with multiple exhibitors are NOT required to place a single order

for the entire family. Family orders are an option. For turkey orders: A minimum of 5

and a maximum of 75 poults may be ordered per exhibitor or family unit. ii. For broiler

orders: A minimum order per exhibitor or family unit is 25 chicks, with a maximum of

75 chicks, in increments of 25. Therefore, each exhibitor or family may order 25, 50 or

75 chicks.

Mission:

The Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador program strives to provide high school aged 4-H members the opportunity to develop and practice advanced leadership skills related to mentoring other youth, and to become advocates for animal agriculture.

Objectives:

Prepare youth to serve in leadership capacities in junior livestock programs across Texas. Prepare youth for the experience of the University setting, through intensive science based in-struction and experiences. Prepare and provide opportunities for youth to serve in advocacy roles for animal agriculture, 4-H, and junior livestock programs. Develop a heightened awareness of career opportunities in animal agriculture and advocacy. Bring your plastic shopping bags - Walmart, HEB, United, Kroger, Brookshires, Dollar Gen-eral, Family Dollar, Department Store - any-thing plastic! (500 bags makes a 3’X6” mat). Everyone participating at State Round Up is en-couraged to donate bags regardless of participa-tion at workshop.

District 12 4‐H Leadership Lab is an overnight camping experience for youth ages 12‐19. The focus of the event is to provide 4‐H members the opportunity to learn valuable leadership and life skills by par ci‐pa ng in a variety of educa‐

onal ac vi es, team‐building exercises, and learning sessions. The event is rotated to a variety
