Maverick teams have a rich history of excellence on and off the playing field. One of the primary goals of our athletic program is to accentuate the development of the whole student and help them achieve a personal level of excellence in the areas of academics, fitness, teamwork, commitment, respect for others, and sportsmanship. Currently, we field 26 varsity, 19 junior varsity, 3 freshmen, and 4 club teams. Over the last 16 years our varsity teams have won 68 district team titles, 20 regional team titles, 4 team state championships, and 7 individual state championships. We also have one Team National Championship in baseball in 2010 and two individual National Champions in wrestling. Overall, the varsity sports program has maintained a winning percentage of over 70% throughout the school’s history.

Last year our varsity teams once again ranked as one of the top 2A to 5A programs in Broward County as we finished second in points out of 21 teams in these classifications. Also, we finished third in wins when compared to all 47 high schools in Broward County regardless of the classification. We posted an overall record of 374 wins, 174 losses, and 2 ties. Our varsity teams earned district team titles in men’s and women’s golf, baseball, flag football, women’s track, women’s cross country, and men’s volleyball. Our two regional team champions were men’s soccer and flag football.

Individually over the last 16 years, 149 of our athletes have earned First Team All County Honors in a variety of sports by the local media and 180 have signed college scholarships to continue both their academic and athletic careers.
