AAA Word From the Pastor This weekend, we welcome Father Jose Ivan Campana, a Yarumal Missionary Priest, will speak at all the Masses asking for your support of their missionary activities. Father is originally from Ecuador and served most recently in Thailand. The Yarumal Missionaries were founded over 90 years ago to preach the Gospel to those who have yet to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. They have mis-sions in Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Columbia, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Angola, Cambodia and Thailand. Just a reminder that every year, we are asked to help support the missionary activites of the Church -- one year a particular Missionary Society, another year the Diocesan Mission in the Do-minican Republic, and the third the Missionary Society of the Propagation of the Faith Office. Attention All Catholic Young Adults, ages 18-25 - Please see the insert in this week's bulletin about a Summer Event on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Basilica Church of the Sacred Hearts in Southampton. Religious Education Classes will resume next month. Registration information was mailed to all families who were enrolled in the program last year. If you did not receive the mailing, please call Ryan or Bullet at the Church Office. If you have a child entering first grade or if you recently moved into the parish and wish to register your child/children, please call the Church Office for information as to how you can register your child for our program. Do you think God is calling you to serve in one of the liturgical Ministries of the parish - as a Lector or Minister of Holy Communion? The parish could use your assistance. The Diocese offers training ses-sions for both ministries in the Fall. If you think God is calling you and/or if you want more infor-mation, please call me at the Rectory - 516 -921-2334. Two weeks ago, the Knights of Columbus from the Joseph Mario Reali Council at Holy Name of Je-sus hosted a picnic. Below are some photographs of those who set up and worked the picnic and those who enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the Knights and all the volunteer parishioners who worked so hard.

FOCUS: Father, even when we have overflowing reasons to trust in your support and protection, we sometimes fail to do so, and for this we ask forgiveness. In the first reading, a prophent experiences dramatic displays of power. But God comes only when there is a quiet whispering sound. In the second reading, Paul reflects on the wonderful gifts God has given the chosen people. In the Gospel, Jesus comes walking on the water to his disciples, whose boat is about to sink, and he reveals to them his divine identity as he calms the threatening sea. We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who strive to remind us that God is with us always to watch over and protect us.
Please pray for all the faithful departed, and for all the souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them. May God grant them eternal rest.
