Description:
Tioga Region AACA newsletter for August 2015

With the addition of the dog park to the Hickories Park we will have changes to the field that the public will find a bit confusing. For this reason we need more people on the field to help. Also in August we have the Newark Val- ley Days Parade on August 8. We need 10 cars to handle the seniors who will be riding with us through the parade. We meet in the Methodist Church parking lot at 9:00AM to pick up our passengers be- fore moving to the staging area. See you there!!! The August meeting is the most impor- tant meeting of the year as it is the last get together we have before the car show. This is the meeting where we establish the final plans for the show. As in the past we will be meeting at The Hickories Park so that we can see the changes made as they are being dis- cussed. It is impor- tant that we have a large turn out for this meeting. We will meet on August 10th at 6:00PM. If you want you may bring a bag lunch but the main thrust of the meeting is to plan the set up and op- eration of the car show. I hope to see a large percentage of the members at this meeting so that we have a good idea of the duties of each in the final operation on the day of the show. Set up for the show will be Saturday, Au- gust 15th at 10:00AM. The more hands present the easier the set up. The day of the show we will be opening the field to the ex- hibitors at 7:00AM. It is important that we have enough people present to make the entrance as smooth as possible! August Meeting Tioga Transmission AUGUST 2015 VOLUME 15 ISSUE 8

With the addition of

the dog park to the

Hickories Park we

will have changes to

the field that the

public will find a bit

confusing. For this

reason we need

more people on the

field to help.

Also in August we

have the Newark Val-

ley Days Parade on

August 8. We need

10 cars to handle the

seniors who will be

riding with us

through the parade.

We meet in the

Methodist Church

parking lot at

9:00AM to pick up

our passengers be-

fore moving to the

staging area. See you

there!!!

The August meeting

is the most impor-

tant meeting of the

year as it is the last

get together we have

before the car show.

This is the meeting

where we establish

the final plans for the

show.

As in the past we will

be meeting at The

Hickories Park so

that we can see the

changes made as

they are being dis-

cussed. It is impor-

tant that we have a

large turn out for

this meeting. We will

meet on August 10th

at 6:00PM. If you

want you may bring a

bag lunch but the

main thrust of the

meeting is to plan

the set up and op-

eration of the car

show.

I hope to see a large

percentage of the

members at this

meeting so that we

have a good idea of

the duties of each in

the final operation

on the day of the

show.

Set up for the show

will be Saturday, Au-

gust 15th at

10:00AM. The more

hands present the

easier the set up.

The day of the show

we will be opening

the field to the ex-

hibitors at 7:00AM. It

is important that we

have enough people

present to make the

entrance as smooth

as possible!

Sones Farm and Home

Museum. We were

greeted by the owner

of the museum as

soon as we arrived

even though they were

also hosting an auction

in an adjacent building.

The group were per-

mitted to explore the

museum at their lei-

sure although the

owner was present to

explain the features at

most of the venue.

The pictures included

show only a small idea

of the scope of our

experience.

On July 18th 7 mem-

bers in 4 cars experi-

enced our first tour of

the 2015 season. Al-

though the weather

man had predicted bad

traveling conditions for

the day, the day began

with only a very light

sprinkle that required

only three sweeps of

the wipers of the

Monte Carlo in the

entire trip from my

home to the starting

point at the Newark

Valley Railroad Depot.

The rest of the tour

remained dry until just

before we returned to

New York. A stop in

Towanda on the way

down provided the

travelers with a chance

to stretch their legs

and attend to other

needs.

Our lunch stop was

about fifteen minutes

before arriving at the

First 2015 Tour

On July 10th we met at Route 96 Diner and Ice Cream shop to take

pictures of our cars that will be posted on our new web page. There

were only seven cars present but the pictures came out perfect. Most

of us also had not only our supper at the diner but ice cream as well.

The cars present were 1.George Simon’s 1956 Lincoln, our featured

car for the car show. 2.Kathleen and Tony’s 1954 Rolls. 3. Howard and

Emily’s 1956 Chevy. 4. Steve and Casey’s Mercedes. 5 Joe’s 1964

Chevy. 6 Bill Lesser’s 1957 Ford. And 7.Cheryl and my 1978 Chevy.
