If they become a little noisy, please don?t be concerned. Their energy is a sign of the life that God has given them.Activity sheets and toys are available at the rear of the sanctuary. Please help yourself or ask a welcomer to assist.
Facilit iesBathrooms are located downstairs. Head out the front door and down to the car park; they are on the right of the stairs. The parents room is behind the piano, in the sanctuary best accessed from the back few rows of pews. The kitchen is located to the left of the front door. Please help yourself to a glass of water if you need one during worship.
WelcomeWelcome to our August/September edition of the Oxley Uniting Church News. Much has happened in the life of the congregation over the last two months for which we give thanks to God. Our celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Uniting Church in Australia was a wonderful occasion on which to give thanks for all that God has provided and to celebrate God?s continued presence with us. Our Day Camp/ Funfari was again a great witness to the community about our commitment to spread the Good News of the God?s love for all people. Both of these events utilised the gifts and passions of people in our church community and beyond to serve God and serve the church. The month of August will see us look again at what our gifts are and how God might use each of us in serving the body in order that the body can remain a vital part of this community and beyond.

Spot light on: Wednesday morning prayer group
Each Wednesday morning of the school term, a small but dedicated group of people meet at 7am to 7:30am to pray for our community, the people of our church, and our world. Prayer is such a vital part of being in relationship with God and our corporate prayer is an important part of being part of Christ?s body together. Our prayer time is open to anyone who wants to come along .
We also welcome any prayer requests that people would like us to pray about. These can be emailed to Rev Andrew or Pastor Ken prior to our prayer time. May we continue to take up the challenge that Paul puts before the Thessalonians (5:17) to ?pray without ceasing."
From our church library, I have just read a book by Bill Hybels called ?The God You're Looking For". Sooner or later, almost everybody looks for God?. The words from this book that inspired me the most were these two sentences: ?I couldn?t survive a single day without the friendship of Christ, not one single day.? ?I really believe that the God of the Bible, the God I love is the God you?re looking for.? Have you found the God you?re looking for? Miriam King
Book review: The God You're Looking For
Each One a Minister - Bible StudyAugust will see us as a whole congregation focus on the study resources ?Each One a Minister?. This study material, from the Methodist church in the USA, guides us to discover and re-discover our gifts for God?s ministry. Once we discover or re-connect with the gifts and abilities we will be challenged to use these gifts to help the body grow and develop into God?s future. The study book is based upon Paul?s letter to the Ephesians along with other supporting scripture readings. The book is divided into 3 Parts. Part 1 has 6 study sessions, based roughly around the 6 chapters in Ephesians. These are:Session 1. God?s Intention for us; Ephesians 1.Session 2. Prepared for Good Deeds; Ephesians 2.Session 3. Sharing the Secret; Ephesians 3Session 4. Gifted Children; Ephesians 4:1-16Session 5. The Right Stuff; Ephesians 4:17-5:20Session 6. Submit to One Another; Ephesians 5:21-6:21
Part 2 looks at Spirituality and Practicality and Part 3 is a guide for exploring areas of ministry.it is intended that as many members as possible would engage with the study material and be challenged to look at their gifts and explore how they may be most effectively used in the life of the church.A number of study groups are available. Sign up sheets are available in the foyer and you are encouraged to find a time and location that suits you. Some people may not be able to participate in a group, but are encouraged to obtain a copy of the book and work through it at their own pace.We will also be running a workshop on Saturday 26 August, 9am-12 noon, to help people discover where their gifts might be used in the life of the church. I hope you are able to take the opportunity during August to rediscover the gifts that God has given you and how you might use these gifts to further his work in our congregation and beyond.
