edafo-climatic that gives our wines a tipic and

own personality. A land’s love ally to the

privilege of nature, care in the treatment of

wines and appropriate techniques in the

treatment and preparation of musts, show the

quality of the wine produced and preserves

their ancestral quality.

Azal and Arinto grapes predominat in

white wine and vinhão, azal tinto, padeiro de

bastos, borroçal in red wines, gives us a wide

range of wines for the most exquisite palates.

The Agricultural Society of Casal de

Ventozela is situated in Portugal’s largest

viticultural region, Vinhos Verdes, in the

sub-region of the Valley of the Ave, and owes

its name to the Estate Casal de Ventozela,

situated in Mogege. The estate’s history dates

back to 1874, at which time it was the property

of one of the region’s noblest families. In 1978,

it was purchased by José Ferreira Cortinhas

and underwent rehabilitation and restoration

QUINTA DE SANTA CRISTINA

A brand new wine cellar was built in the

(estate) Quinta de Santa Cristina, in Celorico

de Basto, and will soon allow all curious and

interested people to visit us.

The wine production begins by a careful

grape selection and its transportation in

proper pierced 20 kg boxes.

Concerning the red wine production, it

is used the traditional method, stomped by foot

in stone tanks.

For the rest of the range (white, rosé and

sparkling) it is used an innovator process: a soft

pressing with a pneumatic press and a

fermentation in controlled temperatures and

automatic control.

century, when the Leite family acquired a large

place near the spot of Poiares Seara. Its owner,

fascinated by the beauty of the place and its

In 2001, Júlio Bastos acquired an estate

he thought most appropriate for planting new

vines and in 2002 bought a vineyard which is

now over 50 years old and whose genetic

heritage is over 150 years old, and is located

right next to the previously acquired estate.

This vineyard has the particularity of

maintaining almost the exact same

characteristics, both in terms of soil and

varieties as the previous one, whose grapes

where used to produce the old “Garrafeiras”.

Currently, the vineyards extend throughout 80

ha, of which 12 ha are planted with white

grape varieties and 68 ha with red grape

varieties.

success. In 2006 embarked for the production

of wines, planting one vineyard with about 29

acres, started a wine cellar located in

Herdade do pico, Granja, Mourão.

After the first phase, we sought a

winemaker with high standards (Joachim

Roque).

The production has achieved the

desired quality and we went for the next step:

disclose the wine and put it on the market.

Located in the heart of the oldest and

most traditional demarcated wine region in the

world, Douro (established by Royal decree in

1757), the Quinta do Côtto estate has 70

hectares of vineyards that are already

mentioned in the first documents related with

the implementation of vineyards in the Douro

valley. The existing manor house is a large and

elegant building from the 18th century, built

upon an older building from the 15th and 16th

centuries, whose remains can still be seen. There

are still some ruins from the Middle Ages in the

back of the house, that an old tradition claims

to be dating back to the establishment of the

Montez family in the region, even before the

birth of the nation in 1140

Provam is a company formed by 10

winegrowers from Monção and Melgaço

Sub-Region in the northwest of Portugal.

In 1992 these winegrowers, with a

passion for wine, decided to build a modern

and functional winery to produce wine of

Alvarinho grape varieties and blends of

Alvarinho and Trajadura.

Today the winery has a capacity of

510,000 liters to vinify its own grapes as well as

the grapes they purchase to a selected group

of small winegrowers

and represents the world´s first demarcated

wine region. This region is composed of three

Quinta da Zaralhoa is located. The Douro

Valley wine region is one of the most impressive

sceneries in the world, classified by UNESCO

as World Heritage in 2001. Work of thousands

of men over different generations created an

extraordinary staircase of terraces on steep

mountains, transforming an almost inaccessible

land in extensive areas of cultivation of the

famous Port Wine.

hectares, Quinta de Gomariz is situated in Vale

do Ave sub-region, the heart of vinho verde

region, making that its vineyards take the most

of such excellent characteristics for the

prodution of vinho verde of high quality, allied

to the region´s main grape varieties.

The vineyards are situated in very fertile

solis, with a light texture and well drained, with

an excellent sun exposition, giving its grapes a

golden colour, reaching easily an absolute

maturation.

Veiga Margaça, acquired in March 1973, a

set of properties between Serpa and Moura,

founding the Agricultural Society of Pias. His

passion for the winemaking and the knowledge

forms of production and create memorable

wines.

For decades he added flavors to the

portfolio, won awards and created all the

logistics of distribution, transforming the

Agricultural Society of Pias an autonomous

company and several of its wines references in

An ambitious project of modernization

had decided to produce wines from grapes of

the company's own vineyards, with the renewal

of the oenology and viticulture team.

Deals were established with Bairrada

vine growers, having in mind grapes production,

under the technical orientation of the Wine

Cellars in order to allow the vinification of

high-quality wines and to satisfy all the needs of

the company. In this way, more than 100

hectares are controlled in Bairrada region, not

only the company own vineyards but also small

vine growers' vineyards.

Nature and history promoted the

cultivation of vineyards and wine production

since time immemorial, improved by Romans

and later by Cistercian monks.

The vineyards, extended over nearly 62

acres, are located at Vermiosa (Figueira de

Castelo Rodrigo), within the delimited region of

Beira Interior and integrated in the

International Douro Natural Park.

In 2004, a winery was built and

equipped with the latest technology. The

grapes are selected, destemmed and crushed,

and then begins their fermentation in stainless

steel vats. In some cases, a pre and

post-fermentational maceration takes place.
