The track has been making the rounds in Australia for four weeks now, and is finally making moves to the top of this combined chart. Having hit #2 on both the iTunes and Spotify chart, the only thing between them and #1 is commercial radio’s unwavering support for Say You Won’t Let Go. That said, Black Beatles is now at #16 from #24 on the Hot 100. Assuming the track breaks into the higher reaches of the Top 10 next week, we could be seeing a new #1 on the Artist Top 50. This week Black Beatles also tops the Australian YouTube and Google Play charts, as well as the International Spotify and Shazam charts. In the US, it’s now on its third week at #1 on the Billboard 100, uninterrupted. Sean Paul is back in the charts following the success of his feature on Clean Bandit’s Rockabye. Following up that success is his new hit No Lie featuring Platinum-selling up-and-comer Dua Lipa. The latest track from the dancehall icon has already seen overseas adoption with Capital Radio in the UK picking the track up eight weeks ahead of its official service there. Other key singles to keep an eye out for include Calum Scott’s Rhythm Inside, the follow-up to his huge cover single Dancing On My Own. Meanwhile, the collaboration between Sigala & Digital Farm Animals on Only One and Belly’s new Ballerina are all commercial primed tracks. Sofi Tukker’s Drinkee is making its way to commercial this week and could prove to be a huge hit over the summer if it takes off. It’s already had time to chart in Australia off the back of their alternative service alone, scoring a Top 15 placing in the Australian Shazam chart while hitting the Top 50 on iTunes. Go to www.themusicnetwork.com/charts to view all this week’s Singles To Radio and Most Added singles. See every addition on every station in Radioactive. The follow-up to #4 Hot 100 charting hit Starboy - and released alongside his highly anticipated album of the same name - The Weeknd’s I Feel It Coming blew all competition out of the water this week. The smooth listen was added to every major commercial network, including across-the-board additions to the Hit Regional Network, and an add to Ash London Live. The closest competitor was Andy Grammar’s Fresh Eyes, which showed signs of traction when it was picked up by Nova 106.9 just under two weeks ago. Last week saw the flood gates open for the track with almost as many stations picking it up as they did for The Weeknd. It didn’t land any across-the- board additions however, instead gaining afternoon additions. It was another great week at radio for James Arthur’s Say You Won’t Let Go, now at #1 for its sixth consecutive week. However, new changes in the Top 5 mean that it’s not all that clear who his successor will be. Little Mix’s Shout Out To My Ex and Neiked’s Sexual both looked likely to vie for #1, but Little Mix have dropped to #3 from #2, while Neiked remain at #5 for another week.

The big change and next likely #1 is now Clean Bandit’s Rockabye ft. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie. Currently at #2 from #11, it’s also the most played track on the Nova Network and was the most Shazam’d track in Australia last week. Rockabye is also seeing success in Clean Bandit’s native UK, it’s currently at #1 the BBC Radio 1 chart, and in Germany where it’s #1 on Spotify Germany.

Milky Chance’s comeback single Cocoon is the Hot 100 Heatseeker, jumping to #28 from #62 on its second week at radio. Bernard Fanning’s Reckless leapt to the top of the Triple M spins count last week, coinciding with his placing at #1 on the Hot 100 Breakers chart. Entry into the main chart next week is looking very likely, especially with Triple M backing him.

Australian hype producer Golden Features dropped his new single Wolfie last week and alternative radio has already jumped on board. It’s triple j’s most played track and unsurprisingly already ranks at #4 on the national youth broadcaster’s Hit List (see Australian & Alternative Artists).

The remainder of the commercial networks are split, with KIIS going their own way and still putting all their force behind Hailee Steinfeld’s Starving. The Hit network has opted to get behind Little Mix’s Shout Out To My Ex, now their most played track up from last week’s #2.

  • Calum Scott’s Dancing On My Own is the breakout story of the year. Added to Nova Brisbane in early August, it was championed by the station for three weeks before eventually seeing the other networks jump on board. Now, with an ARIA Top 10 Single and a 3x Platinum-certified track under his belt, Scott releases Rhythm Inside.

Rhythm Inside was recorded in London and co-written by Scott with hotly-tipped songwriter Corey Sanders and Cutfather; it was produced by Fraser T Smith (Adele, James Morrisson).

A mix of glistening synths, finger clicking beats combined with Calum’s stunning vocal, this infectious pop masterpiece is a worthy successor to Dancing On My Own.

A new hit tops the Spotify Viral 50 in the form of Mighty Mark & TT The Artist’s F Trump. The track eclipses Childish Gambino’s new single Redbone, now at #2, as well as the debut single from Noah Cyrus, Make Me (Cry) featuring Labrinth.

Milky Chance’s Cocoon sits atop the Shazam Future Hits chart. It’s been a big two weeks for the comeback single; it was Most Added To Radio in our last report and is now the #1 Hot 100 Heatseeker. The xx’s On Hold sits at #2, mirroring the #2 they hold on the Hot 100 Alternative chart.

The Shazam Movers chart is reflective of the recent resurgence of airplay given to Mura Masa’s Love$ick featuring A$AP Rocky. The Weeknd’s new single and Most Added track to radio this week, I Feel It Coming, makes an expectedly high entry at #2.

The international LyricFind chart has normalised this week after spending weeks reflecting the US Election and Leonard Cohen’s death. Rae Sremmurd’s Black Beatles is back at #1 while Swedish mystery collective Neiked gain traction at #3 with Sexual.

  • Jack River (aka Sydney’s Holly Rankin) hails from the small coastal town of Forster and recently released her debut EP, Highway Songs No. 2., to critical acclaim. Rankin’s song writing is shaped by connections with her environment and the EP echoes her love of classic folk singer-songwriters, indie-rock, psychedelic electro and bubblegum pop.

Sun-drenched second single, the exquisite pop rock Palo Alto, is both youthful and nostalgic and provides the perfect, breezy driving soundtrack.

The publishing of the track is via Mushroom Music Publishing and the master is via I OH YOU.

Garth Davis’ new film Lion (Mara Rooney, Nicole Kidman and David Wenham), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September (where it was the runner up for the People’s Choice prize), has received wide critical acclaim since its US theatrical release on November 25.

The score was crafted by the creative force of renowned composers Dustin O’Halloran (who also wrote the Emmy-winning theme song to the Amazon hit series Transparent) and Hauschka. Campbell Connelly Australia/Music Sales represents the vast catalogues of both composers, as well as the works of modern classical act A Winged Victory For The Sullen (comprised of O’Halloran and Adam Wiltzie), whose music was also used in the film’s soundtrack.

Peking Duk’s Stranger makes the best of both worlds for a fourth week straight at #1 on the Hot 100 Australian chart, enjoying the perks of wide circulation on both alternative and commercial radio. Aussie hip hop heatseeker Illy has solidified his position in the Top 5 with Catch 22 featuring Anne Marie taking #2 up from #3, a new peak. His previous hit Papercuts featuring Vera Blue also sees renewed success in the Top 5, now at #5 from #7. Fellow aussie hip hop artists Thundamentals make a debut at #8 with Think About It.

Golden Features’ aforementioned new hit Woflie tops the Hot 100 Alternative chart while Milky Chance’s Cocoon inches closer to the top at #4 from #9. Following The Smith Street band finishing up their national tour last week, Death To The Lads overtakes The xx’s On Hold at #1 on the triple j Hit List.

Coinciding with the release of their highly anticipated debut album, A.B. Original’s January 26 has shot to the top of the Amrap Metro chart. It overtakes Methyl Ethel’s former #1 No.28 and leads ahead of a new peak for King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s Rattlesnake, the first track from their forthcoming album Flying Microtonal Banana.
