The combination of the both Wind and Solar independent power sources withLithium batteries and the use of fuels cells provides reliable energy to power base

station telecom equipment. This technology is matured and has many benefits compared to classical systemssolutions using Diesel Generators, such as higher fuel cell efficiency, reliable start-up , extended batteries life and compactness, silent operation.

The demonstrator provides an overview of the settings, benefits, energy storageand the state of the technology for each component, and their association to builtthe system.

The key components of the autonomous energy system in this demonstrator are :

the PV array, the wind turbine , the fuel cell, the lithium batteries, the global controller, with remote communication

PV panels and Wind Turbine are interfaced to the 48VDC bus through isolateddc/dc converters (PVi1600HD) associated in parallel with MPPT functionality. This solution utilizes the Solar and Wind power when available to power thetelecom equipment at the site. It also keep the batteries in floating and the extra

power is used to feed the ElectraGen system (Full Cell). From sunset until sunrise the load is powered by the Lithium batteries, and thusthe batteries are in discharge mode.If needed, at a specified DOD, the ElectraGen (Full Cell) starts, supplying the loadand charging the batteries. At a DOD above 95% the ElectraGen (Full Cell) stops.

All the integrated components of the power system are monitored by an uniquecontroller ACMi1000e, which controls all energy production and transfer, but alsothe battery management.

Main operation Modes and energy priorities :Solar and Wind Power are configured as the primary power sourceLithium batteries is configured as the secondary power sourceElectraGen (Full Cell) is configured as the third power source
