Auxiliary Tasks research Cover for the release of the music

video on DVD

Step one

• The first thing I did to be able to construct my auxiliary was looking at photos of different bands, how are they constructed and what is the main element which sustain in all of them.

Conclusions

• As with the music video the costume is really important when we have to take pictures for the DVD cover and magazine advertisement. Therefore I am going to dress the guys similarly as in the music video (shirts, t-shirts, leather jacket, jeans)

• Lighting also plays important role – it is usually dull which reflects on the serious genre of the music. Therefore, through editing and lighting I am going to create the same effect for my tasks.

Step Two

• Afterwards I researched different DVD covers of albums belonging to different rock bands.

• My base was Mylo Xyloto by Coldplay. I have the CD so I carefully looked at how is it constructed and what would I have to do to create my product.

Conclusions

• The same colourful graffiti theme is running throughout the CD and the DG pack as a whole. Therefore I have to make my product work together and everything to match in order for it to look professional.

• Contrastingly to this product, which is too bright and colourful I want mine to be a bit more dull in order to represent the morose sense of the song.

I also looked at a website called www.amazingmagazine.com to further research CD covers of different rock albums. Here I have shown few of them. Even though they are not quite the style I am aiming for they are helpful in

terms of creative decisions.
