    Corrosion on steel

A process in which a solid, esp ametal, is eaten away and changed bya chemical action, as in the oxidationof iron in the presence of water by anelectrolytic process. A chemicalreaction formula is below :

    induces corrosion

Corrosion is the gradual destruction of material, usually metal, by chemical reaction

with its environment. In the most common use of the word, this means

electrochemical oxidation of metals in reaction with an oxidant such as oxygen.

Rusting, the formation of iron oxides, is a well-known example of electrochemical

corrosion. This type of damage typically produces oxide(s) or salt(s) of the original

metal. Corrosion can also occur in materials other than metals, such as ceramics or

polymers, although in this context, the term degradation is more common.

    Condensation Problems

Due to hot and humid summerenvironment, dew condensation

    occurs at floor and wall.

    Rapid corrosion due to highhumidity.

    Mould and bacteria growth

    Reduction of building life

    Corrosion Example

Nato states that all of ammunition storage always have to bemaintained between 50%~60% relative humidity.

The pictures as above show that according to experiment fromGerman air force, one of engines that dehumidifier is not

installed is more corroded than other engines that dehumidifieris installed.

    3. React Air

    1. Process Air- Inside air of shed that should be

    dehumidified.

    2. Dry Air- Dried air by passing through

desiccant rotor (supply to the shedagain)

    3. Reactivation Air- Heated reactivation air collects

    moistureabsorbed by desiccant wheel.

    4. Wet Air- Leave dehumidifier as wet air

Some parts that corrosion can happen from high humidity environment

such as Steel Box, Pylon Saddle, Pylon Top, Cable attachment, Land

connection can be protected using dehumidifier. This is for protecting

durability of steel components not only can extend the life but also

increase the stability of the structure.
