Base Highlights from winter 2013/14
• All new team coming to the base in 2014
• Cooperation with Dutch Arctic Research Programme:
three projects to host in 2014, beginning mid April
• Planning for a new, joint station building proceed,
the winner of a student competition will present his draft
• Highest number of projects ever at AWIPEV Base in 2014
• 53 projects hosted by AWIPEV:(12 France, 38 Germany, 3 Holland)
• 14 projects all year (automated or operated by base personel)
• Ca 4000 person days currently planned(Staff included)

- Aerosol / boundary layer investigations (spring campaign, continuous)
- Aerosol – Cloud interactions (tethered balloon campaigns)
- Atmosphere – snow interaction (ePOP, CHIMERPOL/CLIMSLIP)
Marine Biology / Ecology; terr. Biology; ornithology
- ECOTAB marine benthic observations
- Arctic Macroalgae / diving activities: 5 new projects
- Succession of benthic communities (diving & ROV deployment)
- AMUST: ocean accidification

Science Highlights winter 2013/14
• Long ozone balloon campaign observing Arctic ozone loss
• Under Water Observatory operated successful
• The most early start into the spring/summer season ever,
base already filled up
