A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD CHAIR

What a busy year we have had at United Way! I want to thank those who have been a part of the many successes. In 2012, Campaign Chairman Kevin Sanders challenged each of us to “go the extra degree” in our efforts to raise more money and awareness of United Way programs and services.

In 2012, we launched our Corporate Volunteer Council to encourage year-round, hands-on engagement of corporate volunteers. We currently have eleven individuals representing seven companies on the committee which strives to meet additional local needs through volunteerism.

We also launched the Women’s Leadership Council co-chaired by Lynn Whitworth, Dixie Kinard, and Karen Townsend. Beginning with agency tours and ending the year with a holiday social, the WLC is off to a great start.

Finally, Kevin Sanders and his team reached our campaign goal of $3.35 million. At a time when our local economy continued to struggle, our strongest corporate supporters rose to the challenge with creative and informative campaign practices. Our Alexis de Tocqueville Society and other Leadership members continue to provide a strong foundation on which our success is built.

Thank you for the honor and the opportunity to serve as your Chair.

Sincerely, Delyn Ellis, Board Chair
