What a fabulous summer of sport it has been! Barnhill students and staff have been doing their bit!

We were really lucky to be chosen as one of only 250 schools nationally to be present at the Athletes Parade as they went into the Olympic Stadium for the Opening Ceremony. Eight students made a banner to support Guinea as they and all the

other athletes went past them. In fact, the Guinean athletes were so impressed that they stopped to take photographs! Our lucky students got to see all the athletes close hand including Usain Bolt and Tom Daley (who stopped for an autograph).

BARNHILL AT LONDON 2012

SGP SPONSORS RUGBY KIT New to Barnhill this term is introduction of a rugby team. Our PFI provider SGP has generously sponsored the smart new kit. We look forward to supporting them as they get to grips with this exciting physical sport.

GAMESMAKING

Several students have been Young Gamesmakers, part of what has made the Olympics so special.

They were working with the athletes at the Weight-lifting Venue at London’s ExCel. Lead by Miss Lamb they had a wonderful experience, really impressed the athletes with their dedication and were terrific ambassadors for Barnhill.

Other staff were also Gamesmakers in areas as varied as Volleyball, Sailing and transport!

HIT SCHOOL PRODUCTION

This summer’s school production was Camp Rock proved a big hit. With a cast and crew of over 80 students and staff, it was a big success. Members of Barnhill Community Centre were lucky enough to have a special viewing complete with tea and cakes afterwards served up by the cast.
