PLEASE VISIT YOUR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR FOR MORE ACADEMIC AND INFORMATION HANDOUTS AS WELL AS THE APPLICATION. As your Sixth District Congressman, I have the privilege of nominating students to each of the United States Service Academies. As an influential participant in students’ planning for life after high school, I would appreciate you sharing this opportunity with students who could potentially serve our nation in one of the United States Service Academies. Last year, seven students from across the Sixth District were offered appointments and had the opportunity to attend these exceptional educational institutions at little or no personal cost. Each of the Service Academies is prestigious in their academy integrity and offers some of the very best educational opportunities that our country has to offer. All Academies are ranked 211th or higher in the recent Forbes Magazine’s “America’s Top Colleges” with the U.S. Military Academy ranking 9th, the U.S. Naval Academy ranking 27th, and the U.S. Air Force Academy ranking 34th. Please find additional educational information about each Academy enclosed. Applications can be found attached as well as on my website at www.barr.house.gov<http://www.barr.house.gov>. Applications must be postmarked by October 31, 2014 to be considered by the Academy Nomination Committee. In addition, attached is a flyer for the Annual Academy Day. Academy Day will be Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Aviation Museum of Kentucky located at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington. This is a chance for students interested in a Service Academy to meet with representatives from each institution and discuss the involvement and commitment required for each Academy, as well as ask questions about the application process. My staff and I will also be there to answer and additional questions concerning Congressional Nominations, which are required to attend a Service Academy. If you or your students or parents have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Aaron Thompson at my District Office at (859) 219-1366 or [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Sincerely, Andy Barr

President of the Confederacy, were born. They were born less than one hundred miles and one year apart.
